Things I've been doing during lockdown: orders/commissions + sewing school (oh yes, keep your eyes peeeled, something exciting is coming!).⠀

Pictured is the Jess dress I recently made for a customer, and if you swipe left you'll see the first piece of this style/colour I made last year. Do you note the differences?⠀
⠀
They are indeed very similar (same fabric, same fringe, same colours), the only difference is each one is made to the customer's measurements, and so the shaping/volumes/proportions are unique.⠀
Call me a nerd (yes, you can), but I enjoy making garments that are shaped for each woman. It's kind of homaging their unique bodies. 😊⠀

Ok, here's the announcement (I hope you read this far 😉😀): if you want to learn to sew 50s strapless garments just like I make them, now you can. Yes you read well! Within a few days I am opening a call for the first online Aguyé course on creating 50s bustier tops.⠀

On it, I will be teaching all the exact techniques and methods I use to make my garments. If you ever wondered how you can construct a strapless garment that stays put, how to place boning, how to fit it properly and everything in between the construction process, now you can learn it in a *very* thorough course, online, from the convenience of your house.⠀

Bueno, pues aquí me tienes. Si te habías preguntado por qué estoy publicando tan poco últimamente, aquí tienes la explicación. 😄⠀⠀

6 meses y medio de embarazo, y subiendo. He tenido que reordenar mi vida y mi trabajo, porque mis ritmos de sueño, nivel de energía y necesidades nutritivas han cambiado bastante.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Súmale un confinamiento y la revolución que eso supuso, y te podrás hacer una idea de la fiesta emocional, física, económica, logística -y bueno, un cambio inmenso en todos los campos de mi vida- que ha sido.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
La maternidad es un viaje maravilloso. Y duro. Y trae retos. Los míos se manifestaron en el minuto cero, cuando se declaró una pandemia y un confinamiento global, y de repente dejó de haber bodas y festivales de música fifties. Sin ellos, los encargos bajaron drásticamente. Y ahí me tienes a mi, recién embarazada, con un sueño y un cansancio perennes y estratosféricos y sin apenas encargos ni ingresos.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Por suerte, a cambio la Vida me trajo muchos más alumnos de mis clases y cursos de costura y eso me permitió seguir teniendo ingresos. Gracias!⠀⠀

Y es que la Vida es una cachonda. Porque yo ya hacía tiempo que tenía ese gusanillo de enseñar, pero no le estaba dedicando el tiempo y la energía para que creciera. Y al final ha crecido solo, casi sin mi ayuda.⠀⠀

¿Y sabes qué? Que me hace inmensamente feliz. Enseñar es bonito y mágico.⠀⠀

En fin, no me enrollo más. He vuelto. Y vengo con novedades, cosas bonitas para el ojo y para el alma. ¿Te quedas conmigo?⠀⠀

So, this is not quite the post I had planned for today.

With more and more countries placing restrictions for travelling to Spain (USA, Finland, Uk, and now Germany, and maybe I'm missing any other?), it seems it is impossible for many of you to attend The 50s Top Sewing Retreat this August.

With all that's happening in the world lately, I believe we all need some fun in our lives, and experiences that makes us feel ALIVE. Beauty, joy, learning, doing what you love, sharing the experience with other fellow 50s loving sewists, relaxing, laughing, enjoying sun, beach and mountain... More than ever!

And with my heart I can say that this is the Sewing retreat I had been dreaming of. Everything is planned to make attendees feel good and enjoy those few days with all their beings.

So I am definitely doing it! But now I'm not sure it will be this August.

Let's wait and see. This part of Catalonia still has a nice summer weather in September, so maybe it will be delayed just a few weeks. Either way, I'll let you know.

There's always something magical happening in my classes, and I am addicted to it. The spark, the happiness that comes from creating something with your hands, from learning and improving, from discovering a clever tip. It's full of self-love.

I am the lucky person who witnesses it and who provides it, helping others to get this joy. It's a blessing to me and I'm so grateful for it.

No, this picture doesn't mean I am on holidays. Not yet 😉
These are the views from the lovely terrace of Can Co, the gorgeous setting I've chosen to host the attendees of The 50s Top Sewing Retreat, which will happen on the last week of August.

It's been quite an exciting journey getting to organize this, and I'm happy that I've been able to bring to life my initial idea: creating a real vacation with a sewing course included, and not just a workshop.

The problem was that, in order to make this happen, I needed to find the right accomodation, and, as I was not finding it, I put the whole idea back in the pile of "I'll do that in the future".

About a month ago, and by total chance, I discovered that, only 4 mintes walking distance from the Aguyé studio, there is the perfect place: a beautifully reburbished ancient house named Can Co.

So here it is! The 50s Bustier Top Sewing Retreat. It will open for bookings this Saturday at 10am (GMT+1). Would you like to join us?

L'APRENENTATGE I ELS ERRORS⠀
Sovint em trobo que un dels impediments més freqüents a l'aprenentatge és la forma com entenem els errors a la nostra societat.⠀
⠀
Hem après que equivocar-se és motiu de vergonya i càstic i que "fer-ho bé" és motiu de premi i felicitació.⠀
⠀
I hem perdut de vista com funciona en reallitat el procés d'aprendre: aprenem a base d'assaig i ERROR. Mentre aprenem, equivocar-nos no només és INEVITABLE, és que és LA MANERA COM APRENEM. És normal, és natural i a més és bo, perquè vol dir que estem experimentant i fent real tot allò que sabem "en teoria".⠀
⠀
Això ho veig més en les noies en pràctiques que en les alumnes, simplement perquè, com que s'hi volen dedicar, s'ho prenen com quelcom més important. Però ho portem tots a dintre, en menor o major mesura.⠀
⠀
Tant a unes com a les altres, les animo i corregeixo perquè no es culpin o critiquin (aquesta veueta interior tan punyetera!) quan s'equivoquen, sinó que, simplement, OBSERVIN què els ha dut aquests resultats, i es fixin en la manera de que els surti millor. A vegades es tracta de "pillar" el "truco", a vegades simplement les mans han d'aprendre a fer allò que el cap vol fer.⠀
