This is a mitochondrion; often called the powerhouse of the cell. Science has proven that regular resistance training (RT) increases mitochondrial effectiveness and efficiency; particularly important in older bodies and those with metabolic, digestive or autoimmune disease.
Holding a comfortable asana, particularly balances, is RT at its very best. In yoga parlance, asana when practiced with ahimsa will boost your Agni or internal fire.

I love it when science can explain what was noticed by the first yogi. Yoga works. Slowly we are understanding how.

Many of us welcome this new year with some trepidation. Fear and helplessness is the prevailing tone of conversation, online and irl; we are understandably anxious about the implications of AI and the world seems to get less safe by the day.

We are NOT helpless; when we work together we can achieve the impossible. But we have to be honest about what we see happening all around us. We have to call it out, name it for what it is. Authoritarianism. Greed. A power grab.

The empty hearts of billionaires will never be filled with their money or the power it brings them. We can all clearly see, happiness lies not in wealth but in love.

We have the power of LOVE.
And, no, you’re not crazy… it’s the world we live in that has lost its way. Not you.
Remember what is important to you and seek out and defend the truth.

Together, we will resist, speak out, stand up, call out the bad guys, keep breathing, keep loving and speaking truth to power. Love always wins.

This too shall pass. Let’s stay sane and try to enjoy the ride.

Tree done! Didn’t need Alex’s help…. At least not after he had chopped it down, wrapped it up, driven it here, lugged it up the stairs, trimmed it and stood it in a bucket of rocks. Teamwork. 😜

How wonderful was the fiesta this year! Danced until my feet could dance no more, laughed, ate and enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you to the volunteers who worked so hard to make it happen. 🙏🏽
