Today, we are reaching out to ask for your help during one of the most difficult times our family has ever faced.
Our mother, Nelly Figueroa, is fighting to save the vision in both of her eyes. Those who know her know that she has always been a kind, generous, and compassionate person, always willing to help others. Today, for the first time, she is the one who needs the support of those around her.
Recently, she underwent her first vitrectomy, a surgery that our family had to arrange privately because her condition could not wait for the delays of the public healthcare system. Despite the significant financial sacrifice, the operation did not achieve the hoped-for outcome. Her specialists have now told us that she urgently needs a second vitrectomy, cataract surgery, and, afterwards, surgery on her left eye to preserve as much of her vision as possible.
The cost of the first operation has already placed an enormous financial burden on our family. Sadly, we can no longer afford the remaining surgeries on our own, and time is not on our side.
That is why we are asking for your help.
Every donation will go exclusively toward covering Nelly's medical expenses, including her surgeries, diagnostic tests, follow-up appointments, treatments, and any other costs directly related to her recovery.
We are committed to being completely transparent throughout this process. We will share the available documentation including medical estimates, invoices, and receipts for expenses already paid or still to come so that everyone who wishes to support us can see exactly how every contribution is being used.
