High-risk doesn’t mean high-fear. It means high-preparation.
I spent so long believing that my Type 1 diagnosis meant I had to just accept a stressful, scary birth experience.
That I should be grateful for whatever I got.
Turns out that’s not how it works. You can be monitored AND feel calm. You can be induced AND feel in control. You can be high-risk AND have a beautiful birth.
If you’re a T1D mama feeling overwhelmed right now, wherever you are in the world, this is your reminder that it doesn’t have to feel this way.
Save this for 3 AM when you need it 🤍

Pregnancy and Hypnobirthing support for Type 1's
Nobody talks about the anger.
The quiet resentment that can live in your body when you’ve been diagnosed with T1D.
The feeling that it’s just not fair.
Charlotte named it in our interview this week and I nearly cried.
Because she’s right.
A lot of us carry that. And it shows up in how we talk to ourselves, how we feel in our body, how we approach birth.
Her invitation was so simple:
Treat your body like someone you love.
Like a child. Speak to it kindly.
That’s where it starts.

Every scan. Every blood test. Every appointment.
And slowly you stop trusting yourself.
Charlotte said it so clearly in our interview last week, all that external monitoring disconnects us from ourselves.
The stress, the anxiety, the fatigue. It adds up.
And then without even realising it, you hand your power over to the men in white coats.
If you’re a T1D mum nodding at this, this conversation is for you.

Exhausted but can’t stop?
Charlotte said something in our interview that I keep thinking about.
Don’t have another coffee. Just spend 10 minutes with your eyes shut and some gentle music on. Set a timer.
That’s it. That’s the whole thing.
As T1D mums we’re so used to pushing through, monitoring, appointments, managing everything.
We forget that our body is also growing a human and it’s asking us to slow down.
The small responses are what build trust with your body.
Not the big grand gestures.

No one talks about how heavy pregnancy with Type 1 diabetes actually feels.
Not just physically…
But mentally.
The constant thinking.
The pressure.
The appointments.
Always on.
Always aware.
Always thinking one step ahead.
It’s a strange mix of responsibility and lack of control.
And most of the time… that part goes completely unseen.
If you’re feeling this right now, you’re not imagining it.
I’ve created a small support space for women going through pregnancy with Type 1 who want to feel calmer, supported, and not so alone in it.
Message me “SUPPORT” and I’ll send you the details 🤍
Everyone talks about birth.
The bag. The clothes. The baby.
But no one really talks about what happens to you after.
The shift.
The exhaustion.
The identity change.
The need for support you didn’t realise you’d have.
In this conversation, we talk about why recovery and community matter just as much as birth itself.
If you’re pregnant (especially with Type 1), don’t skip this part.
Full conversation is in my bio

No one talks about how lonely the postnatal period actually is.
Everyone talks about the baby.
No one talks about you.
The exhaustion.
The constant cycle of feeding, changing, surviving.
The days that blur into each other.
The feeling like you’ve completely lost yourself.
‼️That postnatal fog is real.
And what Elena said here is so important:
👉 It’s not just about “getting your body back”
👉 It’s about feeling like you again
👉 Feeling strong
👉 Feeling capable
👉 Feeling seen
Because when you’re doing it alone, everything feels heavier.
But even just one hour a week
with other women who get it…
can shift everything.
You start to:
– feel stronger
– see progress
– reconnect with your body
– come back to yourself
You were never meant to do this alone 🥰
If you’re in that fog right now… I feel for you.
And if you want support through pregnancy and birth (especially with type 1), you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Most advice around movement in pregnancy is outdated.
“Don’t lift.”
“Don’t do too much.”
“Take it easy.”
But here’s the problem 👇
👉 Inactivity is often what creates more pain
👉 It can make your body feel weaker, not safer
👉 And it feeds into this idea that your body can’t be trusted
And that’s where everything starts to spiral.
Because it’s not just physical.
It’s confidence.
When you stop moving, you stop feeling capable.
When you stop feeling capable, you stop trusting your body.
And that’s the real issue.
What Elena shares in this clip is so important:
✔️ Movement is safe for the vast majority of pregnancies
✔️ Strength training can actually reduce aches and pains
✔️ Feeling physically strong changes how you experience pregnancy (and birth)
You are not fragile.
Your body is not failing you.
You just haven’t been given the right support.
If this resonates with you, you’re not alone 🤍
I support women (especially with type 1 diabetes) to feel calm, confident and in control going into birth.
