Alumni magazine | School's Out A magazine by and for the students of the European School of Alicante
Dear EEA alumnus
I hope this message finds you well, especially in these dire and trying times. I cannot begin to imagine what it must be like across university campuses across Europe and beyond. I sincerely hope that in 2021 the beacon lights of hope will soon become visible so that furthering your academic paths and for some the prospect of graduation will happen in the best possible circumstances.
It feels as if it’s somewhat uncalled for and inappropriate to write you this message, as once again the European School of Alicante would like to call on your quintessential and valuable support. As you can imagine, the impact of coronavirus on our Year 6 and 7 students is especially felt in shaping their future plans. No prospects of visiting university campuses to get a feel for the place where they will be chasing their dreams. No opportunities to attend on-campus university fairs. Even the in-school university fair which is usually held in the salon de actos, is now no longer a way to help them make those all-important career choices.
But last year’s June online university fair was a great success. A great number of students and parents expressed immense interest and their gratitude for having had the opportunity to listen to your experiences at uni. And therefore, we would like to call upon you once again to share your experiences and expertise in a 2021 uni fair edition.
As our Year 7 students will have – hopefully – written their Prebacs by the end of January, we would like to organise this event either on Friday 5 or 12 February. Depending on your willingness and availability we could however be flexible with dates and times.
So, if you’re up for another session, then please send me a message (or email) informing me whether you could make it and what your exact availability is.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Kind regards
Philip Jones

Dear alumni of the European School of Alicante,
We hope you are doing well, despite these times of limited travel and activities. From our School, we are very interested in knowing how you are doing and where you have continued your studies after finishing here. In this sense, we ask you for 1 minute of your time to access this form and tell us where you are and what you are studying (or have studied). This information will help the School's guidance counsellors to do their job a little better. Besides, it is always a pleasure to contact former students.
And you know, we are at your disposal for anything you need.
Best regards
Saludos cordiales

Dear EEA alumni
We sincerely hope you are doing well, wherever you currently are.
We are in the early stages of making an alumni magazine and would like to reach out to you, undergraduates and postgraduates, to help us compile a magazine packed with inspiring stories about your academic and professional endeavours.
Do you have a great story to tell? And do you want to share it with our soon-to-be college students? If you want to help us, may we kindly ask you to drop us an email or a WhatsApp message, then we will get in touch to plan a (Skype, Facetime) interview. And hopefully by the end of the year, we’ll be able to publish our first alumni magazine.
We hope to hear from you soon!

Dear former EEA pupil
We hope that you have enjoyed the Easter break and that you are all geared up for the final stretch to your examinations.
The reason why we are dropping you this email is because we need you. We would like to call on your support to share you first-hand experiences at university with our Year 6 pupils.
Going back in time a little – when you were still at the European School yourself, some of you might recall having had to make some all-important decisions. What BAC exams should I take? What degree should I take at university? Do I want to stay in Spain or do I want to go elsewhere in Europe or even beyond?
In order to facilitate these difficult but crucial decisions, we would like to organise a “Sharing University Experiences”-fair in our very own Salon de Actos on Friday 28 June (12.15pm – 4.15pm).
If you were available and prepared to share your invaluable, first-hand experiences, you would be seated at a table where you could display some materials like course books, papers you have written, examples of the kind of work you have done, etc. Our year 6 students would then be invited to come and talk to you, asking you all kinds of questions about the degree itself and the university where you are enrolled.
Possibly, if a great many of you are prepared to collaborate in this first-time-ever “Sharing University Experiences”-fair, we could bring together a diverse number of degrees being taken at an equally diverse number of universities, both in Spain and beyond.
We truly think that you – as ambassadors of the European School – could grant our current Year 6 pupils the unique and invaluable opportunity to aid them in finding the right path to tread. And we would be delighted to welcome you again to our campus. Prior to the job fair the school would like to offer you a brunch in our school staff canteen. In that way, you can catch up with some fellow-pupils and teachers.
If you have any further questions or more importantly, if you want to lend us your support, please drop us an email or join our WhatsApp group!
We very much look forward to hearing from you!
Best regards
