💜 A little sneak peek... 💜

This is a small sample from one of the weekly reading comprehensions in my upcoming book, A Year Through My Neurodiverse Eyes.

This book has come from my own lived experience as a late-diagnosed AuDHD adult, raising two incredible neurodivergent children, and over 20 years of teaching children with many different learning styles and needs.

Throughout my career, I've seen something that has stayed with me...

So many neurodivergent children are misunderstood.

Not because teachers or parents don't care.

But because they simply haven't been given the opportunity to understand what life can feel like through a neurodivergent child's eyes.

That's why I wrote this book.

It isn't just a collection of reading comprehensions.

It's a chance to start conversations.

To build empathy.

To help children understand each other.

To help teachers see behaviour differently.

To help parents feel less alone.

And to remind every neurodivergent child that different does not mean broken.

Although it has been written as a classroom resource, I truly believe every school should have a copy. But it isn't only for schools.

It's for parents to read with their children.

For childminders and childcare professionals.

For teaching assistants, SENCOs and teachers.

For anyone who wants to better understand autism, ADHD and neurodiversity.

If this book helps even one child feel understood, one parent feel supported, or one teacher see a child through a different lens, then every hour spent writing it will have been worth it.

💙 **At the Happy English Farm School & The Happy English School l, we believe every child deserves to feel understood.** 💙

Many of our students are neurodiverse, and we know that learning isn't just about English and Maths—it's also about building confidence, self-worth, and understanding who you are.

That's why I've written a new reading comprehension article called **"Finding Peace Within Yourself."** 🌱

It encourages students to understand that:
✨ Being different doesn't mean you're broken.
✨ You don't have to change yourself to be accepted.
✨ Real self-care is about kindness, self-respect, and believing in your own worth.
✨ The right people will accept you for who you truly are.

The article develops reading, comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills while opening up important conversations about neurodiversity, self-acceptance, and mental wellbeing.

🌈✨ COLOUR IDIOMS FOR KIDS ✨🌈

Did you know that English uses colours in lots of funny expressions called idioms? Idioms don’t mean exactly what the words say — they have a special meaning! Here are some fun examples for children to learn and use:

🔵 Feeling blue = feeling sad
🟢 Green with envy = very jealous
🚩 Red flag = a warning sign or problem
⚫ Black sheep = someone different from the group
⚪ White lie = a small harmless lie
🌟 Golden opportunity = a great chance
💙 Out of the blue = something unexpected
🔴 See red = become very angry
🌸 Tickled pink = very happy or pleased

These colourful expressions are a great way to help children improve vocabulary, comprehension, and speaking skills while having fun! 🎨📚

💡 Challenge your child or students: Can they make a sentence using one of these idioms?

Example: 👉 “I was tickled pink when I got my birthday present!”

Theme this year - Animals around the world

Join us and our amazing rescued animals for a fun and enriching experience where children can learn English naturally in a relaxed, outdoor environment. Sessions are led by a native children’s specialist teacher, psychologist, and Forest School trainer with over 20 years of experience.

💛 Children with mild ADHD & ASD are welcome where 1:1 support is not required.
🐾 Private animal therapy sessions are available to book for children with more complex needs.
🐾 Purpose-built children’s farm, designed with both animals and children in mind.
