CAC’s curriculum and teaching methods have been carefully developed and designed to provide a well-balanced program for each age group. The curriculum, which covers phonics, science, math, music, writing, art, and playtime, will build the vital foundation for your child’s educational success. Our mission is to teach our students to become self-reliant and productive individuals who are capable of thinking, speaking, and writing with clarity, precision, and independence. Thus, they will be fully prepared for the next stage of formal academic schooling in an international system. The Curriculum:
The Challenger Activity Center’s curriculum is comprised of the following nine subjects: 1) Phonics, 2) Science, 3) Math, 4) Music, 5) Writing, 6) Art, and 7) Playtime. The curriculum, teaching methods, and activities have been carefully developed and designed to provide a well-balanced program for each age group. The following provides a brief overview of the nature of each subject:
1) Phonics: A complete phonics program is provided to establish the essential basics for future spelling and reading skills. This will include learning the alphabet and sounds, blending letters together, and eventually reading one and two-vowel words.
2) Science: Students will explore several topics of water, air, plants and animals through our extensive collections of pictures and experiments.
3) Math: All age groups will learn and identify numbers and shapes. The older age groups will gain an understanding of quantitative concepts as well as simple addition and subtraction.
4) Music: Children typically enjoy singing and music-related activities; therefore, music can be used as a powerful learning tool. Our music curriculum is comprised of singing, musical dramas, dances, and rhythm activities. The purpose is not only to develop musical awareness, but also creativity and social interaction.
5) Writing: Developing basic motor skills is essential before entering school. The children will learn to write his/ her name, as well as other words.
6) Art: The art program has been designed as a means for children to exercise their creativity and develop visual perception, eye-hand coordination, small motor skills, logical reasoning, and thinking skills. Some of the tools include paints, crayons, markers, scissors, and glue.
7) Playtime: All classrooms are equipped with a wide variety of toys, games, and play equipment that have educational, perceptual, and small motor value. Furthermore, coordination, interaction, and large motor skills are developed with regular games and activities such as jumping, hopping, running, and skipping.
