What does the future of Jewish education look like from the classroom?

In a new eJewishPhilanthropy article, Rosov Consulting's Alex Pomson and Allison Magagnosc share early insights from the Growing Educators and Leaders Study (GELS), a longitudinal study conducted by Rosov Consulting in partnership with the Jim Joseph Foundation.

The article offers a ground-level perspective on the realities educators face every day. As educators navigate the impact of October 7, AI, rising complexity, and growing emotional demands, the research asks an important question:

What are educators being asked to carry, and what support do they need to keep making Jewish education possible?

Every “state of the field” report depends on where the observer is standing. The recent eJewishPhilanthropy collection, “The state of Jewish education: Insights from leaders across the field” (June 4), stands in a valuable place. Its contributors — leaders in various sectors of Jewish educ...

When Rosov Consulting released From Calling to Career, our research with Atra – Center for Rabbinic Innovation highlighted long-term shifts in the rabbinic workforce and sparked an important conversation about the future of rabbinic leadership.

It's encouraging to see new reporting point to signs of renewed enrollment at several seminaries and innovative efforts to strengthen the pipeline into the rabbinate. As Wendy Rosov notes in the article, these challenges have been building over time, and it's exciting to see the field responding with new approaches.

We're honored to see Rosov Consulting's research featured on the Shalom Hartman Institute מכון שלום הרטמן Identity/Crisis podcast. In this thoughtful conversation, our colleague Ilana Horwitz discusses On the Edge, our collaborative study on economic vulnerability in American Jewish life, conducted in partnership with Tulane University, and gives a shout-out to Rosov Consulting for our role in the research. It's an insightful conversation about belonging, financial stability, and the future of Jewish communal life. We encourage you to give it a listen!

Are you measuring activity—or impact?

Many nonprofits can tell you how many workshops they delivered, participants they served, or volunteer hours they logged. But those metrics only tell part of the story.

The real question is: What changed because of your work? Logic models help organizations connect resources, activities, outputs, and outcomes to create a clear pathway from effort to impact. They are powerful tools for strategic planning, program design, evaluation, and stakeholder communication.

We explore:
✅ What a logic model is
✅ Why it matters for nonprofits and foundations
✅ The difference between outputs and outcomes
✅ How logic models strengthen planning, evaluation, and impact

Plus, we've included a free downloadable Logic Model Handout that you can use with your team.

Nonprofit leaders are often asked to demonstrate impact. Funders want evidence that investments are making a difference. Boards seek clarity on organizational effectiveness. Staff members want confidence that their efforts are creating...

Thank you to Hebrew University: M.A in Jewish Education for hosting us and creating space for such a meaningful conversation.

It was a pleasure to share insights from this extraordinary 15-year longitudinal study, led by Alex Pomson and our colleague Helena Miller, which tracks the lives, identities, and experiences of young British Jews from adolescence into their mid-twenties.

At a time when Jewish communities are asking urgent questions about Israel, belonging, education, and generational change, this kind of long-term research offers especially valuable perspective.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a conversation that will continue to shape educators, leaders, and researchers for years to come.
