# Comparative and Superlative Adjectives

We use **comparative adjectives** to compare **two things**.
We use **superlative adjectives** to compare **three or more things**.

# # 1. Comparative Adjectives (Two things)

Structure:
**Subject + be + comparative + than + object**

Examples:

* Ahmed is **taller than** Ali
* A car is **faster than** a bike
* This book is **smaller than** that one

# # 2. Superlative Adjectives (Three or more)

Structure:
**Subject + be + the + superlative**

Examples:

* Ahmed is **the tallest** in the class
* This is **the fastest** car
* Mount Everest is **the highest** mountain

# Rule 1: Short Adjectives

Add:

* **-er** → comparative
* **-est** → superlative

| small | smaller | smallest |
| long | longer | longest |

Examples:

* A giraffe is **taller than** a dog
* A giraffe is **the tallest** animal

If adjective ends with **consonant + vowel + consonant**

Double last letter

| thin | thinner | thinnest |

Examples:

* An elephant is **bigger than** a horse
* An elephant is **the biggest** animal
