قد تم خضوع مصر لحكم البطالمة في عام 333 ق.م، واستمر الحكم لعام 30ق.م، وهذه الفترة قد تم تشييد المعابد فيها وذلك معبد دندرة، وأيضًا قد شيدت مكتبة ضخمة وكانت محتوية على أكثر من نصف مليون لفافة.
