Lycée de la Liberté The theatre presents Arabic and French plays and shows. The school's library is named after Tarek Hamdi, a former student who died in the War of Attrition.

HistoryLycée La Liberté D'Héliopolis opened in 1937 by the Mission Laïque Française.[1]

[edit] CampusThe school's sports facilities include separate football, basketball and handball courts. In the 1980s, Layla Elwy - the now famous actress - attended the Secondary section. She used to act in the school theatre activities with other fellow students amongst which is Khaled Elgewely.

ulumAn English language section is in the process of being added to the primary school section. After it is complete, English language sections will be added to the preparatory and secondary school sections.

مدرسة ليسيه الحرية بمصر الجديدة (بالفرنسية Lycée la Liberté Héliopolis)، من المدارس العريقة بحي مصر الجديدة بالقاهرة، أسستها الجالية الفرنسية بمصر وافتتحها الملك فاروق عام 1937 [1]، وكان اسمها وقتها ليسيه الفرنسية (Lycée Français)، مثل بقية فروعها الأخرى التي حملت نفس الاسم مثل ليسيه الإسكندرية وليسيه بورسعيد وليسيه باب اللوق، وكانت الدراسة فيهن تتم باللغة الفرنسية فقط، مما جعل طلبتها ينحصرون في أبناء الفرنسيين وبعض الإنجليز، والجنسيات الأخرى الأوروبية المهاجرة إلى مصر، بالإضافة إلى بعض المصريين. قامت الثورة بتأميم جميع تلك المدارس عام 1961 وضمها إلى المعاهد القومية المصرية، مما جعلها تتبع المناهج الدراسية المصرية، وتم تغيير اسمها إلى مدارس ليسيه الحرية.

وبتأميم المدارس، أصبحت تحت الإشراف الحكومي بإدارة خاصة بنظام مدارس اللغات، فظل تمويلها مصدره الأساسي هو المصاريف التي يدفعها أولياء الأمور، بالإضافة إلى هيئة المعاهد القومية.
