When teaching Writing, it is essential to provide a model first. In Lesson 6 here, students will first read Waleed's email to Ashraf. They are then provided with models of useful language that can be used in an informal email. In Exercise 5, they are asked to make notes about their summer vacation before they are finally asked to write their own email in Exercise 6. Students are expected to use the past tense in their email, a tense which they have been exposed to throughout the unit, and which was drilled many times.
