✨ The books are here! Fresh from the print house, our brand-new Jazz History books look all shiny and ready to inspire. 📚🎷
To me, teaching music history without jazz is simply unthinkable. Jazz opens the door to rhythm, freedom, and creativity — and it resonates with students immediately, often even faster than classical repertoire.
What amazes me most is how actively they engage — everyone jumping in with thoughts, laughter, and rhythm.
This is how history comes alive. 💛 And that experience is priceless. 🎷

Active music listening 🎶✨
Truly happy to dive into our new interactive book, “My First Music Stories,” to decode the secrets of a classical piece.
This is how we connect the dots: we listen, we play, we read the score... and the magic of comprehension clicks into place.
Our youngest group followed the music along in the book, color-coding the dynamics (loud/soft) and registers (high/low) we heard.
It helps us truly understand the architecture of the music around us. It’s not just about playing the notes—it’s about speaking the language of music 🗣️💬🎶

🎹 Recently, I received a piano performance video from a relative miles away. While the effort was commendable, I noticed issues that stemmed not from the student, but the teacher. It reminded me how crucial it is to choose a teacher aligned with your child’s needs and goals. Here’s a glimpse into my teaching approach, honed through years of experience:
1️⃣ Clear Goals from the Start: I tailor lessons based on goals—whether for personal enjoyment or professional growth. Two formats:
🎼 Music School (“Olympic Team”) for excellence-driven students with daily practice.
🎼 Music Hub (“Fitness Class”) for flexible, customized learning at your pace. Most of my students enjoy success in the latter while keeping lessons fun and rewarding.
2️⃣ Music Adapts to You: Music enters your world, not the other way around. I prioritize making it enjoyable and accessible, nurturing a long-term bond with music rather than a fleeting interest.
3️⃣ Interest First: Especially for younger learners, interest drives progress. I carefully select pieces that highlight strengths and build confidence, adding challenges step by step for a positive, engaging journey.
4️⃣ Understanding Development: Kids under 12 are still developing skills like time management. Unrealistic expectations can frustrate everyone. My approach balances structure and flexibility, fostering steady progress.
5️⃣ Beyond Mechanics: Music isn’t just playing notes—it’s understanding history, theory, and context. Exploring these stories turns practice into passion and performance into storytelling, connecting students with the emotions and cultures behind every piece.
6️⃣ Teamwork Matters: Collaboration between teacher, student, and parents creates a supportive environment where everyone thrives. Open communication is key!
✨ Choosing the right teacher makes all the difference in a child’s musical journey. Let music bring joy, growth, and inspiration! 🎶

Taking your kid to the Opera House 🤔How age appropriate it is?
If you have a child, it may tap into your fears of placing them in a hushed formal environment when they couldn’t care less about keeping still (or about the fine art of knowing when to speak or even applaud).
Your little one might find the orchestra “boring”. Then again, they might surprise you with a “wow!” after the talented musicians rip through an exciting piece of music, right before their eyes and ears.
I always encourage the families of my students to go starting from the age when the child is capable of sitting for 45min straight.
Another secret of making your kid interested is to go prepared: you should listen to the music and discuss it together before going, covering “the story” behind the composition. Be a role model, your enthusiasm will sparkle the interest.
In live music, orchestras often host events designed specifically to entertain the younger concertgoer. But in case it’s not easy to find, like in Cairo, where such performance are almost nonexistent and they usually start not before 8pm, it’s totally fine to take it gradually - attend a first half of the performance, listen to already familiar tunes and experience the magic energy of live performance together.
Music taste is something you need to develop by being exposed to various genres and styles regulary. Your kid won’t like all of them, but I guarantee it will resonate in other aspects of his life- such as his tolerance for diversity across people, cultures, communities, and more.
Time to check the opera house schedule and book a performance!

📚Library Update: excited to welcome “the new comers” to our music library 🙂
Every month we order new and interesting books! This time part of the upgrade is for the adult learners, who are often the most motivated of all students!
Keep going, the adult learners, you can’t imagine how your enthusiasm and dedication inspire the teacher, encouraging to search for new ideas🫶
