Which dialect of Arabic should I learn?
Whether you will study MSA or Egyptian Arabic, You have to sudy a course of reading and writing ,then you can choose between Modern Standard Arabic or Egyptian Arabic.
You can choose Egyptian Arabic, if you wanna learn Arabic in order to travel to Egypt,to live there ,and because you have Egyptian friends ,then I will happily recommend you Egyptian Arabic (Ammeeya Masria).
If You are interested in Arabic literature, and reading poems, novels, and short stories, then you have to choose Modern Standard Arabic (MSA).
Modern Standard Arabic is the literary Arabic that is written ,and read in every Arabic country,so If you plan to travel around Arab countries,I will definitely recommend Modern Standard Arabic for you.
Modern Standard Arabic is the language of the holy Quran, so If you plan to know terms from
Egyptian Arabic as every body knows that is known as the Egyptian Colloquial Arabic (Masri) .Vocabulary in Egyptian Arabic is mostly based on MSA ,but also borrows words from cptic, Turkish, French, and English. Here I can show you some examples:
‘Ah’ = ‘yes’ (origin: Coptic)
‘ōda’ = ‘room’ (origin: Turkish)
‘asansir’ = ‘elevator’ (origin: French)
‘yisantar’ = ‘to center (something)’ (origin: English).
At Lisany Center,we have some energetic Students who re studying Modern Standard Arabic ,and Egyptian Arabic at once ,and we note as an administration that they accomplish Egyptian Arabic at a short time compared to MSA
That is the differnce in an detailed way.
Any more questions, feel free to ask
For all whome are interested in Egyptian Arabic..
