SSIGE is a not-for-profit Egyptian organization dedicated in the research for the different works of Geotechnical and Transportation Engineering. All the researches preparations, needs, Miscellaneous, publishing and others are granted from SSIGE members or organizations, which are non-governmental. The soil-structure interaction is the most effective tool that makes the sustainability and the cost
-safety effectiveness to the construction community. History:
Unfortunately, The Middle East is accused of falsely that its countries are not interested in the various scientific research, especially in the geotechnical and transportation engineering researches. researchers spend every year multi-million dollars from their own budget on their researches, but this research is mainly done for academic promotions by getting MScs and PhDs and publishing papers in local conferences or journals, and then these researches will be useless. In Jan-2008, a non-profit research group named the Soil-Structure Interaction Group in Egypt (SSIGE) was initiated. The Group has many aims but the main aim is to make the researchers serve the field community, and not doing research just for research. This aim has been achieved by creating a global research plan for SSIGE, which has been transmitted to many small researches. The Group has started by only ten members and their researches were funded by the Middle East researchers. In October-2012, the members were increased to about 250 geotechnical engineers who interested by the aims of the group, but the main problem is the granting and hosting organizations. The group founder decided to make the organizational board, and try to achieve the ISO requirements. In Jan 2013, SSIGE started the ISO preparations for the research management and processes. Hence, several members and professors were attracted to participate in the group. Some of the geotechnical research Labs in the Middle East have decided to help SSIGE enhancing their researches by improving the research process, and then export papers to the international journals and conferences. Mission:
To aid Middle East’s overall growth through focused geotechnical and transportation researches, education, and policies. Vision:
To provide a unique forum within M.E for the interchange of ideas among geotechnical and transportation researchers, educators, managers, policymakers from M.E and all over the world, with the intention of covering all modes and sectors, and having special intention to cover all the soil structure interaction topics. To serve as a platform to guide and focus geotechnical and transportation researches, education, and policies in M.E towards satisfying countries’ needs and to assist in its overall growth.
