المعهدُ الدومينيكيّ للدراساتِ الشرقيّة موجودٌ في نجامينا لعقدِ دورةٍ مكثّفةٍ في الدراسات الإسلاميّة، موجّهةٍ إلى 18 إكليريكيًّا في نهايةِ مرحلةِ التكوين، وإلى جمعٍ يضمّ 48 مشاركًا من مختلف أنحاء البلاد منخرطين في مجال الحوار.

نتناولُ خلال هذه الدورة بداياتِ الإسلام وفق الرواية التقليديّة وكذلك وفق مقاربة التاريخ، كما ندرس القرآن والشخصيّات النبويّة، والشريعة الإسلاميّة، إضافةً إلى عددٍ من القضايا اللاهوتيّة التي يعالجها اللاهوتيّون الجدد، مثل حقوق المرأة، والكرامة الإنسانيّة، ومسألة العنف، والحريّة الدينيّة.

كما خُصِّص يومٌ كامل لتاريخ الإسلام في إفريقيا، وفي تشاد على وجه الخصوص.

وقد اجتمع الأخوان إيمانويل بيساني وأدريان كانديار مع الأب جيسوس-إيمانويل والأب هيرفيه تامسنغار لتأمين هذه الدورة.

وقد عبّرت إحدى الراهبات عن تقييمها لهذه الدورة بقولها:
«أفهم الآن إخوتي المسلمين فهمًا أفضل، لأنني أصبحت أفهم ما هو إيمانهم وكيف يفكّرون».

L'institut dominicain d'études orientales est à Njdamena pour une session intensive d'islamologie donnée à 18 séminaristes en fin de cycle et une assemblée de 48 personnes de tout le pays, impliquées dans le dialogue. Nous y abordons les débuts de l'islam selon le récit traditionnel et celui de l'histoire, le Coran et les figures prophétiques, la loi islamique, des questions théologiques travaillées par les nouveaux théologiens à l'instar du droit des femmes, de la dignité humaine, de la violence, de la liberté religieuse. Une journée est aussi dédiée à l'histoire de l'islam en Afrique et au Tchad en particulier. Les frères Emmanuel Pisani et Adrien Candiard ont retrouvé le Père Jesus-Emmanuel et le Père Hervé Tamasngar pour assurer cette session. Une soeur exprimait ainsi son évaluation de la session : "Je comprends mieux maintenant mes frères musulmans car je comprends ce qu'est leur foi et comment ils pensent".

في يوم ٦ مارس، وأمام مائةٍ وخمسين شخصًا، شارك الأخ/ عمّانوئيل پيزاني، مدير معهد الدراسات الشرقيّة للآباء الدومنيكان، في ندوةٍ نظّمتْها مؤسّسة «رسالة السلام» بعنوان: «دعوةُ اللهِ للنّاسِ إلى السَّلام». وقد ألقى خلال الندوة مداخلةً عنوانها: «السلام في المسيحيّة».

ينظّم المعهد الدومينيكي للدراسات الشرقية (IDEO) شهادة أكاديمية حول «المرأة و الأديان ». يهدف هذا التدريب إلى فتح فضاء للحوار الأكاديمي حول قضايا المرأة في التقاليد الدينية، من خلال مقاربة علمية متعددة التخصصات تجمع بين الدراسات الدينية والعلوم الإنسانية.

تبدأ فترة التسجيل في 1 مارس 2026، ويكون آخر موعد لتقديم الطلبات في 31 مارس 2026.

Under the Chaire Anawati project and in partnership with the Al-Azhar Center for Teaching German, we had the pleasure of welcoming Professor Simon Conrad, who presented the results of his PhD defended at Princeton in June 2025: “What Does It Mean to Know (Maʿarifa)? Debates Between Egyptian Philosophers and Sufis in the 1930s and 1940s. What Role Did Mysticism Play in These Debates?”

So many questions arose … Conrad demonstrated how, in the context of communism, the rise of Na**sm and fascism, and economic crises, mysticism sought to put humanity back at the center, reminding people of their spiritual dimension.

A century later, these lessons remain profoundly relevant!

We have returned from Córdoba after an unforgettable congress: “Ethics and Aesthetics in Islamic Heritage”, organized by PLURIEL in collaboration with the Dominican Institute for Oriental Studies and the Al-Azhar Center for Teaching French, within the framework of the Anawati Chair, supported by the Delegation of the European Union in Cairo.

Over four days, the presentations and discussions made it possible to examine, in particular, the relationship between an ethics of dialogue and openness to others, and the way this ethics is expressed aesthetically—of which the concept of adab is one of the most relevant. Our students were highly engaged and serious, taking notes for every presentation. Soon will come the time for feedback and sharing, to convey to colleagues and friends the key highlights of this scientific conference and what it helped to shed light on and uncover.

Complementarity between Religion and Human Rights, an immersive learning programme, jointly organised by the British University in Egypt, the Dominican Institute of Oriental Studies (IDEO) and the Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism, and supported by the European Union. It showed the power of dialogue, critical thinking and living together and we were especially pleased to welcome H.E. Anne Schouw, Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to Egypt.

IDEO invites Dominican brothers in philosophical or theological formation to a one-month summer course exploring Arabic language and Islamic studies.
