My Name is Khaled Bahader a national UNV youth assigned in UNDP Egypt Environment Unit.
I started working on a project called “Green Sharm”, it is mainly focused on changing the way Sharm city handle their Environmental habits, this change involves Energy Efficiency methods, Waste Management, Biodiversity Conservation.

“At the beginning I wasn’t fully aware of the Environmental aspects, it was mind blowing to understand how every single move can affect the Environment. Environment is one of the few things that not only affect your territory but has regional effects and sometimes even worldwide effect”.

This project is directly related to Climate change mitigation methods, it will help in heavily reducing the CO2 emissions in the city which will directly affect all the nearby cities and eventually Egypt. The team tackled the Energy sector by implementing new Solar panels projects that will cut off the usage of diesel fueled power stations, secondly the team tackled the waste collection and sorting of the waste by the hotel sector that constitutes a huge percentage of the total city waste amount and finally the preservation of the coral reefs and other biodiversity related issues.
