Establishment:
The Center was established at the campus of al-Azhar University in 2010 as an affiliate of the Sheikhdom of al-Azhar ash-Sharif pursuant to al-Azhar Grand Imam's decisions numbers 524, 576 and 577. This includes that the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates is to manage the Center.
Vision:
Shaykh Zayed Center is a world center for teaching Standard Arabic to non-Arabic speakers in accordance with the international quality standards for teaching second languages. The Center selects the best teaching staff and qualified experts to deal with the latest education curricula as well as educational materials through using the most efficient teaching approaches and applying the modern academic methods and techniques. The is done with the aim of rendering students well-acquainted with speaking, reading, writing and listening to Arabic as well as using it in communication with its native speakers in various fields.
Future Vision:
In the future the Center targets:
• Disseminating the Arabic language worldwide through distance learning project for teaching Arabic to non-Arabic speakers.
• Establishing branches for the Center worldwide.
• Rendering the Arabic language the second language worldwide in terms of spread and daily use.
• Reaching a unified standardized competence test of the Arabic language worldwide.
• Preparing a new generation of teachers capable of teaching Arabic to non-Arabic speakers.
Mission:
1. Preparing students to be competent in Arabic language skills: Listening, speaking, reading and writing.
2. Qualifying students in order to resume their studies at al-Azhar University.
3. Producing fundamental educational materials mainly represented in "Series of al-Azhar ash-Sharif for Teaching Arabic to non-Natives.
4. Preparing various educational materials custom tailored to suit diversified nationalities, languages and purposes.
5. Using the latest education and learning techniques in the Center.
6. Preparing standardized academic tests for admission and assessment of level of understanding during and at the completion of the courses.
7. Preparing an international test on linguistic competence in Arabic (A unified standardized test).
8. Providing training courses for teachers desiring to teach Arabic to non-natives.
Objectives:
1. Disseminating the Arabic language around the world.
2. Qualifying the international students who study at al-Azhar University and preparing them linguistically and academically.
3. Educating those who wish to learn Arabic for special purposes (Learning Arabic for diplomatic, touristic, commercial and other purposes).
4. Providing vocational training for the teaching staff. In this regard, the Center prepared a detailed program for theoretical and practical training for the teachers of Arabic to non-native speakers.

Admission:
The Center accepts all non-native students wishing to learn Arabic. Studying at the Center includes several programs:
Studying Arabic for diplomatic, touristic, commercial and other purposes according to:
- Level of the students.
- Classification of students according to the placement test they sit for.
The total studying hours of each level is 80 hours (Theoretical and practical study).
Certificates and Documents Given by the Center:
- Students are given a statement that proves passing the levels studied at the Center.
- Students are given a statement that proves the duration of stay at the Center after paying the required fees.
Preparation Courses for Arabic Teachers
- The Center offers a series of preparation courses for Arabic teachers to become proficient teachers of Arabic to non-Arabic speakers.
