To the enduring force that drives me forward, the Past, Present, and Forever Student Body,

How do I even begin to find the words to thank you for the most beautiful, unforgettable farewell anyone could dream of.

A celebration that felt less like an ending and more like a love letter written by every soul I’ve had the honor to teach, advise, challenge, laugh, and cry with over the past 30 years♥️

You didn’t just organize a ceremony; you created a moment of magic. A living, breathing memory, with your laughter, tears, music, flowers, inside jokes, new surprises, and heartbeats I could feel in every corner of the hall, including mine.

You made me feel seen. Not just as a professor or an administrator, but as your Dr. Mervat/Tito; sharing when things were tough, cheering when in doubt, and celebrating when challenges were overcome. I’ve always believed and trusted in you!

Sara Seif, Maryam Abou Zeid, Fatma El Sayad, Mohamed Badawy, Hania Seif, Amal Salah, my TFC heroes, and MCA students, alongside every single soul who participated in organizing and attending this dream ceremony… I am forever indebted to you.

Thank you for honoring me in the most sincere, soulful, and heartwarming way. Thank you for reminding me that these decades were not just about courses and committees — they were about YOU.

About building something together that is everlasting, that doesn’t end with a resignation letter or a final lecture.

I have held many titles at AUC — teacher, advisor, mentor, chair, senate member — but none as cherished as the one you honored me with that day, which made me someone worth celebrating.

I’m proud and gratified to have created legacies at AUC generation after generation…and for that, I’ll be forever grateful! I may be stepping down from my formal role here, but I will never step away from you. You’ve become like part of my DNA, my ever-evolving, ever-inspiring beings.

From the deepest, fullest corner of my heart: thank you.

You made this goodbye a cherished memory. And for that, I’m still speechless and beyond grateful.

#أنقذوا_زوجي #انفجار_6_أكتوبر #حاسبوا_المقصرين #فين_الإعلام؟ جوزي مصطفي حجازي في حاله حرجة جدا في العناية المركزة بمستشفى "أهل مصر"، بعد ما اتعرض لانفجار ضخم يوم الإربعاء ٣٠/٤ في طريق الواحات – 6 أكتوبر. الانفجار حصل بسبب إهمال جسيم من شركة المليجي للمقاولات أثناء الحفر، ومن غير أي إجراءات أمان أو تنسيق مع شركة الغاز. الحادث ده ماكنش بسيط – في عدد كبير من المصابين، وفي وفيات كمان! ناس راحت ضحية الإهمال، وبيوت اتدمرت، وحياة اتشقلبت… ورغم كده، في تعتيم كامل على اللي حصل. ولا بيان رسمي، ولا تغطية إعلامية، ولا كلمة من أي جهة مسؤولة! إزاي كارثة زي دي تتحط تحت السجادة؟ إزاي ناس تموت وتتقطع، وحد يفقد حياته أو مستقبله، والدولة ساكتة؟! أنا بناشد كل حد عنده ضمير. أنا مش بس بطالب بحق جوزي بس – أنا بطالب بحق كل مصاب وكل حد اتظلم. إحنا مش أرقام، إحنا بشر، ولينا حق نعيش بأمان، ولما يحصل لنا حاجة، نلاقي اللي يقف جنبنا. ساعدوني بصوتكم، بشير، بتعليق – المهم صوتنا يوصل. الإهمال بيقتل. والتعتيم بيغطي على الجريمة. #حق_مصطفي_حجازي #حق_كل_المصابين #ضحايا_انفجار_6_أكتوبر #شركة_المليجي_للمقاولات #مستشفى_أهل_مصر #الإهمال_يقتل #تعتيم_إعلامي #حاسبوا_المقصرين #وزارة_الداخلية #الإعلام_المصري #مصر

أستاذة ورئيسة سابقة لقسم الصحافة والإعلام بالجامعة الأمريكية بالقاهرة، شاركت في تحكيم مهرجان السينما القومي، وتعمل كأمين ومستشارة إعلامية لمؤسسة أولادنا. وتم تكريمها بلقب "سفيرة الثقافة والفنون"

We are honored to have Dr. Mervat Abou Oaf, a professor and former head of the Journalism and Media Department at AUC.

She is specialized in media law and holds a Ph.D. in film legislation. She advises the Egyptian Chamber of Cinema, represents it in the Egyptian Federation of Industries, and is a member of the National Council for Women.

She has coordinated international press at the Cairo International Film Festival, judged the National Film Festival, and serves as a trustee and media advisor for the Awladna Foundation. Recognized as a "Cultural and Arts Ambassador," she advocates for culture's role in societal development.

Join us as part of the Sports Expo exhibition activities in Hall 3.
