To the enduring force that drives me forward, the Past, Present, and Forever Student Body,
How do I even begin to find the words to thank you for the most beautiful, unforgettable farewell anyone could dream of.
A celebration that felt less like an ending and more like a love letter written by every soul I’ve had the honor to teach, advise, challenge, laugh, and cry with over the past 30 years♥️
You didn’t just organize a ceremony; you created a moment of magic. A living, breathing memory, with your laughter, tears, music, flowers, inside jokes, new surprises, and heartbeats I could feel in every corner of the hall, including mine.
You made me feel seen. Not just as a professor or an administrator, but as your Dr. Mervat/Tito; sharing when things were tough, cheering when in doubt, and celebrating when challenges were overcome. I’ve always believed and trusted in you!
Sara Seif, Maryam Abou Zeid, Fatma El Sayad, Mohamed Badawy, Hania Seif, Amal Salah, my TFC heroes, and MCA students, alongside every single soul who participated in organizing and attending this dream ceremony… I am forever indebted to you.
Thank you for honoring me in the most sincere, soulful, and heartwarming way. Thank you for reminding me that these decades were not just about courses and committees — they were about YOU.
About building something together that is everlasting, that doesn’t end with a resignation letter or a final lecture.
I have held many titles at AUC — teacher, advisor, mentor, chair, senate member — but none as cherished as the one you honored me with that day, which made me someone worth celebrating.
I’m proud and gratified to have created legacies at AUC generation after generation…and for that, I’ll be forever grateful! I may be stepping down from my formal role here, but I will never step away from you. You’ve become like part of my DNA, my ever-evolving, ever-inspiring beings.
From the deepest, fullest corner of my heart: thank you.
You made this goodbye a cherished memory. And for that, I’m still speechless and beyond grateful.
