The Department of Chinese Language and Culture at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities proudly participated in the Chinese Bridge Competition, held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Ain Shams University.
Two of our first-year students, Rodina Nouh and Hala Karim, represented the British University in Egypt with great pride and enthusiasm. They showcased their talents through singing, dancing, and poetry performance in Chinese, reflecting both their linguistic progress and cultural appreciation.🎉🎊
The Chinese Bridge Competition is one of the world’s largest events dedicated to Chinese language learning, organized by China through Confucius Institutes across the globe.
The department continues to encourage students to engage in international activities, strengthen their language and cultural skills, and build meaningful connections across cultures worldwide🎊

The British University in Egypt Celebrates Chinese Language Day
Under the patronage of Professor. Mohamed Lotfy, President of the University,
and under the supervision of Professor. Shadia Fahim, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities,
the Department of Language and Culture at The British University in Egypt celebrated Chinese Language Day yesterday, Monday, April 20, through a joint artistic performance held at the university theater in cooperation with the Faculty of Arts at Sichuan Normal University in China.
Egyptian and Chinese students participated in presenting the performances, offering impressive and captivating artistic shows that combined music and dance in celebration of this occasion, which highlights the role of culture in building bridges of communication among peoples.
This comes within the framework of The British University in Egypt’s commitment to supporting cultural exchange activities with China and countries around the world, as well as promoting the values of dialogue and mutual understanding.
The Chinese artistic performance was presented under the title “The Elegance and Charm of Sichuan” and included a diverse selection of classical and folkloric arts. Egyptian students also performed the song “Helwa Ya Baladi,” which was warmly welcomed by the audience.
In her speech, Professor. Shadia Fahim welcomed the Chinese artistic delegation participating in the celebration and expressed her gratitude to the Educational Office of the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, Sichuan Normal University, and the Confucius Institute for sponsoring this event.
She also expressed her sincere hopes that this cultural activity would represent a new step toward greater closeness and cooperation between Egyptian and Chinese cultures.

Today, the Chinese Language and Culture Department at the British University in Egypt proudly held the “Elegance and Charm of Sichuan” performance.
Art is the universal language that connects hearts, bridges cultures, and brings the world closer together—and today, we truly lived that connection.
It was truly an enjoyable and exciting day, filled with vibrant cultural performances that brought energy and enthusiasm to the stage. Through a wonderful collaboration with Sichuan Normal University , the performances brought Chinese art and culture to life, immersing the audience in a rich and captivating experience.
From singing to martial arts, the event showcased the beauty and diversity of Chinese culture, keeping the audience engaged and inspired throughout.
We were alshonoureded to welcome distinguished guests who delivered inspiring speeches, which we greatly enjoyed and appreciated.
