Visa information in Egypt

The visa you buy at the airport is valid for 30 days and cost 25 Dollars
If you want to stay for a longer period, you can get a 6 month extension at the visa office "Temporary Residence Visa for Tourist Purposes" and you will need a stamped rental agreement for this. If you want to stay more than 6 months, you can get another extension, but after staying in Egypt for 1 year, you will need to leave the country for at least 24 hours to get a new visa.

Additionally, if you leave Egypt during your stay, your visa will no longer be valid, unless you obtain a re-entry visa before your departure in Cairo Abassya)
A resident visa is different it is issued for 1, 3 and 5 years, it gives you unlimited entry and you are not required to leave the country after staying here for 1 year, but the residence permit is only granted to people married to an Egyptian (which is why it is generally called a spouse visa), if you own property worth at least $100,000, if you have a permit work... There are also laws issuing you a residence permit depending on the value of your property in Egypt and also depending on the amount of your bank account(s))

Remember that now to get a visa you need to change currency in one of the national banks, get papers with your passport number and name. This way you can pay the visa amount in Egyptian pounds
