GARDEN XI: Saturday, 14 February 2026 – CALL FOR PAPERS!!

We are very happy to announce that GARDEN XI will take place on Saturday, 14 February 2026, at the German Archaeological Institute in Cairo (DAIK). The conference is jointly organized by the DAI Kairo - German Archaeological Institute Cairo, the NVIC - Netherlands-Flemish Institute in Cairo, AUC The American University in Cairo, and جامعة القاهرة Cairo University.
GARDEN is a unique and excellent opportunity for young researchers to speak at an international conference and to make contacts with other young scholars from all over the world.

We invite MA and beginning PhD students involved in the study of Egypt and Sudan from the Prehistoric Period through the 15th century AD to apply to participate in GARDEN XI. Abstracts for a 10-15 min talk should be submitted by using this form (either in Word or PDF format):

PLEASE NOTE: We do NOT accept applications without this form!
All applicants should please keep in mind that GARDEN's main focus is on the methodological approach of the research.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS: 1 December 2025.

Travelling costs and lodging, unfortunately, cannot be refunded. If help with finding accommodation is needed, please contact the organizers at [email protected]
Please keep in mind that time is limited to 10-15 min for the presentation and 5 min of discussion. Your talk should be planned accordingly. We will also be organizing a poster session.
Registration is not obligatory for audience members, but please keep in mind that seats are limited and once we reach capacity, we will have to turn people away at the door.
We hope to see you in Cairo in February!
