✨ Meet the Director: Tamara!✨️
Hello everyone! I'm so happy to share a little about myself with this incredible community.
📍 Where I'm from: I'm a product of two great cities — Brooklyn, NY and Washington, D.C. — but
honestly, the world shaped me just as much as any zip code. Growing up overseas and living across
multiple countries gave me an early and lasting sense of just how beautifully different, and deeply
connected, we all are. That experience is really at the heart of everything I do.
💐My Background: My path to the ELRC hasn't been traditional. I spent six years in the classroom early in my career, but most of my work has been in communications — where language is everything. Along the way, I've had the joy of lecturing, mentoring staff, and discovering that teaching never really leaves you.
🌍 What I Love Most About Languages: For me, it's always been about cross-cultural connection — that beautiful moment when language becomes a bridge between people, places, and ideas. There is nothing quite like watching someone use English to reach across a cultural divide and truly connect.
💬 My Philosophy: Language isn't just a skill. It's a doorway — to opportunity, to understanding, and to
each other.
✨ A Quote I Return To: "Language was just difference. A thousand different ways of seeing, of moving through the world. No; a thousand worlds within one." — R.F. Kuang, Babel

✨️Teacher Spotlight: Eman Ahmed✨️
🌷Where I’m from:
My name is Eman Ahmed, and I am from Cairo. I am proud and grateful that destiny led me to teaching, a career that has become not only my job but also my passion and purpose.
👩🏫 Years of Experience:
I have taught for more than 15 years and worked with both young learners and adults. Throughout my journey, teaching has shown me that learning has no age limit. Every learner shares the same goals: improving their language abilities, which in turn allow them to communicate with more people and experience in their lives.
📚 My Favorite Lessons to Teach:
One of my favorite areas to teach is writing and critical analysis because this encourages creativity, logical thinking, deep reflection, and analysis.
❤️ Why I Teach / What I Love Most:
I teach because I believe that sharing knowledge is one of the most valuable ways to serve others. My greatest joy comes from seeing learners understand information in a simple and enjoyable way, then later apply what they have learned to real-life situations.
I still remember when I was teaching a grammar lesson once, followed by a writing practice. I noticed that my students used the grammar they had learned and expressed their ideas beautifully in their writing. I felt so proud! .
💬 My Teaching Philosophy
To me, education is not only about memorizing books and information. Education connects knowledge with life experiences and human values.
✨ My Favorite Quote:
"Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself." — John Dewey
