Our school recently organized a field trip for students in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) to foster a deeper understanding of their environment, while also providing an enriching opportunity for exploration and learning. The field trip was designed to engage students with the world around them in a meaningful way, encouraging inquiry-based learning and fostering a sense of curiosity.

In alignment with the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy, the trip allowed students to engage with real-life contexts and develop their understanding of the transdisciplinary themes. Through this experience, students were able to make connections between their personal experiences and the broader world, encouraging them to become active participants in their learning.

The field trip provided opportunities for students to develop their social, emotional, and cognitive skills, while also building on the attributes of the IB learner profile, such as being inquirers, knowledgeable, and reflective. By engaging in hands-on experiences and exploring new spaces, students were able to develop a deeper sense of responsibility for their environment, reinforcing the importance of global citizenship.

Overall, this field trip was a valuable experience, as it encouraged exploration, inquiry, and reflection in a context that resonated with the IB commitment to developing students who are not only knowledgeable but also caring, open-minded, and motivated to make a positive impact on the world.

"Celebrating Diversity and Unity!

This Thursday, our school came together to celebrate Culture Day! It was a vibrant and joyous celebration of diversity, with students and teachers from PYP and MYP participating in various activities.

The day began with an engaging quiz on different cultures, testing our knowledge and curiosity. Our cafeteria was transformed into a global cuisine hub, with delicious food from around the world.

Students proudly wore their traditional costumes, showcasing their cultural heritage. The atmosphere was electric as we danced to music from different cultures and sang our national anthem with pride.

What made the day truly special was seeing our students and teachers come together, enjoying the activities and celebrating our diversity. It was a wonderful reminder of the importance of cultural understanding and exchange.

17th of December 2024 was marked in the history of Confluence International School as the Term 1 Student Led Conference (SLC). We had a very interactive, effective, and successful SLC where the students projected to their parents the idea of concept-driven teaching and learning.

We acknowledge that students learn by taking what they know and then building on it. The ability to transfer understanding from one experience or domain to another is facilitated by discussions around concepts. Concepts help this happen; they are the superhighways of learning.

This is what it is to be life-long learners, taking ownership of learning, exploring, and explaining the entire journey of constructing knowledge.

Here, these pictures showcased that PYP 5 learners designed a Power Point presentation about Media, its uses, Propaganda and its techniques. In order for students to reach this point they followed multiple steps :
🫡First: Students collected the information from different sites through applying their research skills of information literacy
🧐Second: They gathered their findings and summarized it in a form of word documents
🤔Third: They used their skills of media literacy and used Power Point slides to represent their information using different elements of visual Language such as colors, different fonts, shapes, icons, images,videos and logos.
🤯🤯Lastly: Students practiced in the class how to present using the body language- several times- and then present it in front of other students and teachers.

PYP5 learners did a survey by going to other classes and asking the students of pyp3, 1, and kg 3 to take out their lunch box contain and check what they have (healthy food or not).

Breast Cancer Awareness Initiative by MYP 4 Students!

On October 2024, our talented MYP 4 students took the lead in spreading awareness about Breast Cancer to PYP and MYP students, as well as staff!

With creative posters displayed throughout the school corridors and premises, they educated us on the causes and prevention of this important health issue.

We're proud of our student-led initiative, showcasing their commitment to health, wellness, and community service!
