The Smart Engineering Systems Research Center (SESC) is pleased to have participated in a joint initiative between Egyptian and European experts in researching decarbonizing wetlands. Gratefully, the outcomes of this research will be presented in COP 28 in the Innovation Zone.
The session will identify and discuss existing challenges and develop technological, policy, and behavioral solutions; it will also tackle biodiversity and natural-based solutions, circular economy and waste valorization, urbanization and mobility, and renewable energy.

Incredible experience at Cairo Water Week 🇪🇬

Researcher khlood Ahmed had the privilege of representing Nile university at Cairo Water Week held from
the 30th to 2th of November at the Nile Ritz Carlton Hotel – Cairo , where she presented a poster on "Water and Wastewater Treatment using sustainable solutions ." during presentation she focused on ’ waste
water treatment using natural bio char Water at the heart of climate action.’ During the event, she
presented two significant papers that garnered attention and recognition. The first paper,
titled ’Removal of methylene blue from aqueous solutions by adsorption on physically prepared activated
carbon from sugarcane bagasse pulp,’ showcased our innovative approach to addressing textile wastewater
treatment. The second paper, commercial versus natural activated carbon fabricated sheets: applied to
dyes removal application’

Cairo Water Week provided an amazing opportunity to connect with colleagues and stakeholders in the sector, working together towards a more secure water future for Egypt.

Nile University Celebrates the Successful Completion of the PRIDA Training Program in wastewater treatment with Different Technologies

Nile University is thrilled to announce the successful completion of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), Egypt, in partnership with the Centre for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries (NAM S&T Centre), New Delhi, India, which is jointly organizing an International Training Programme on "Low-Cost Technologies for Arsenic Removal from Groundwater" in Cairo, Egypt, during 5-6 September 2023.

Roba Tarek Abdel Fatah had the exceptional opportunity to participate in fully funded training on spectrum management. Designed specifically for young women in STEM, Roba was selected among a group of promising individuals from across Africa for this prestigious program.

Nile University Celebrates Successful Completion of PRIDA Training Program in Spectrum Management
Nile University is thrilled to announce the successful completion of the "Policy and Regulation Initiative for Digital Africa" (PRIDA) training program in spectrum management. In collaboration with the African Union (AU), the European Union (EU), and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), this program aimed to empower young women in Africa and enhance their Internet Governance capacities As part of the ITU-managed PRIDA project.

The training program consisted of two sessions, bringing together a total of 304 young women representing French-speaking African countries and English-speaking countries, respectively. Roba had the privilege of joining the second session, which took place in Nairobi, Kenya, from the 14th to the 18th of August, 2023.

Roba Tarek acknowledges their unwavering commitment to empowering young women in Africa and equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge for effective spectrum management. The insights gained from this training will significantly contribute to the development of a digital Africa.

The collaborative spirit was fostered among fellow participants and their engaging discussions further enhanced the learning experience. Roba looks forward to maintaining connections with her peers as they continue their professional journeys and collectively make a positive impact in the realm of technology and communication.

The participation of the Smart Engineering Sciences Research Center was intense and fruitful, more than fifteen researchers from SESC participated.

As part of UK-Egypt Higher Education Climate change partnership funded by British Council, the Propulsion Futures Beacon and University of Nottingham Energy Institute are holding a short video competition to find out how Early Career Researchers (ECR) and PhD Researchers are contributing to global net-zero targets.

Video is a fantastic medium for communicating your research and there is a chance to win £500, £300, and £200, for first, second, and third place. There may be an opportunity to showcase the best videos at COP27 held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, subject to confirmation.
