In this Screenwriting workshop (and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity) with Mohamed Hesham Obayya, you’ll explore what it truly means to build stories from observation, analysis, and human behavior.

Starting from real-life moments and hidden motivations, you’ll learn how to develop ideas, construct complex characters, and shape stories with strong emotional and dramatic foundations.

Obayya is an Egyptian screenwriter and journalist who worked in Egyptian and Arab media before transitioning into screenwriting. His work tackles research-driven and socially complex topics, including sexual exploitation (60 Minutes), extremism (Bi Tolo’ El Rouh), religion and politics (Resalet El Imam), surrogacy and abortion (Selat Rahm), and digital betting (Montaha El Salahia). He has won multiple awards, including Best Screenplay at the Arab Drama Critics Awards for Bi Tolo’ El Rouh, and contributed to Fi Kol Osbou’ Yom Gomaa, which was nominated for an International Emmy. His debut feature film Banat El Basha premiered at Cairo International Film Festival 2025.

In this 3-day workshop, you’ll learn all about:
- Developing story ideas from observation and real-life situations.
- Understanding emotional logic and hidden motivations behind characters.
- The know how to building characters with clear wants, needs, and transformation arcs.
- Writing complex characters
- Structuring stories through idea, world, character, and events.
- How to balance realism with dramatic impact

This workshop is for Beginners. There will be an in-class and after-class assignment and you will receive a certificate upon completion of your workshop.

Music in films is not just a background element; it plays a crucial role in storytelling and conveying emotions.
In the 2nd edition of this one-of-a-kind workshop with Khaled Al Kammar, you will learn how to create a unique musical identity for each project, understand your role as a composer, and master the dynamics of working with directors and editors to achieve a cohesive artistic vision.

Khaled Al Kammar is one of the leading film composers in the Arab world, with over 25 film and TV projects, including “Qabeel”, “Al Ekhteyar”, “Paranormal”, and “Wesh Fe Wesh”, as well as international films like “Valley Road”. He has received multiple awards, most notably the State Encouragement Award in Arts in 2021 and the Hollywood Music in Media Award, becoming the first Egyptian to win it.

In this 3-day workshop, you’ll learn all about:
- The composer’s role in storytelling, not just background music.
- Key differences between Egyptian, European, and Hollywood film scores.
- Defining the musical approach based on the film’s context.
- Collaborating with directors and editors to shape the final vision.
- Creating a theme map and identifying the project’s key theme.

This workshop is for Intermediates. There will be an in-class and after-class assignment and you will receive a certificate upon the full completion of your workshop and assignment.

Known for narrative clarity, emotional depth, and a strong visual persona, Khalifa’s projects span documentary, satire, drama, and commercial genres. His notable works include Al-Bernameg with Bassem Youssef, Unscripted, Rasayel Salam, and Al-Basheer Show.

In this 3-day workshop, you’ll learn:

In this design workshop with Artist & Author Walid Taher, you’ll explore what it truly means to translate written stories into compelling visual identities.
Starting from how to read a book through a designer’s lens, you’ll learn how to extract themes, interpret meaning, and create covers that communicate emotion, not just narrative.

Walid Taher is an Egyptian artist, author and illustrator. He began his career in illustrative journalism, contributing to major Egyptian publications since 1990.
Taher has written and illustrated over 70 children’s books with Arabic and international publishers.
His accolades include the Etisalat Award, Bologna Honor List, Mahmoud Kahil Award, and Sheikh Zayed Award shortlist. He’s exhibited locally and internationally and is currently collaborating with French publisher Le Port a Jauni.
