UN-Habitat Egypt and Faculty of Fine Arts Strengthen Collaboration to Support Sustainable Architecture Graduation Projects

The Sustainable Architecture and Urban Design (SAUD) Program at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University was honored to welcome UN-Habitat Egypt for a consultation session supporting students to transition toward robust, impactful graduation project proposals.

The partnership was led by Prof. Dr. Yasser M. ElSayed, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Head of the Architecture Department, and Dr. Ahmed Rezk, UN-Habitat Country Representative in Egypt.
With the efforts of Dr. Zeina ElZein, Eng. Lobna Anous, Eng. Sally Hussein and Ms. Pakinam ElGohary, the discussion created an enriching platform for students to link their research with national priorities and real-world development challenges.

This visit represents the first step in a long-term collaboration aimed at bridging academic work with practical urban development, ensuring that students and youth play an active role in shaping more inclusive and sustainable Egyptian cities.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Prof. Dr. Yasser Sakr, who departed from this world on September 29, 2025.

We extend our deepest condolences to his beloved family, colleagues, students, and all who were fortunate to know him. May his soul rest in peace.

Prof. Dr. Yasser El Sayed on assuming the position of Dean of the Faculty of Fine Architecture. His appointment marks the beginning of a promising new chapter for the faculty.

A distinguished training workshop was held at the Faculty of Fine Arts – Architecture Department,
under the supervision of Prof. prof.Dr. Yasser El-Sayed – Head of the Architecture Department
prof. Dr. Fatma Abd Elrahman – Vice Dean of the Faculty,
in collaboration with “Makany” Company, Ceo “ Mohamed Wahb Allah “specialized in architectural design and ex*****on.

The workshop aimed to enhance students' skills through a hands-on project focused on recycling and reuse of materials. The training process went through several stages, including:

1. Identifying existing problems within the faculty
2. Collecting and recycling wasted materials
3. Preparing a mood board
4. Designing the project
5. Producing ex*****on drawings
6. Implementing the project on-ground

Special thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this inspiring educational experience.
