Frequent questions...

1. Who am I?
- Ms. Gina Mikhail, have been working for International British schools as an upper primary English teacher for 4 years now (in Egypt & outside Egypt.)
- A CELTA certified English teacher "Budapest, Hungary"
- A PED certified educator from the American University in Cairo.

2. What am I doing?
- Teaching the British National Curriculum for years 5, 6 and 7 (exactly the same curriculum provided in International British Schools in Egypt)
- Using different interactive pedagogies with students for better attainment.

3. What's so different with FUNglish comparing to any other private sessions?
According to science, the more the student is involved and interactive with the material, the better comprehensive skills s/he develops, accordingly, the better s/he understands the new concept.
So what I am doing exactly is...
- Setting up completely different classes, where students have more time to interact with the materials.
- Applying "Game-based learning" technique, where we will be learning through games and activities.
- Preparing students for the CIE "Cambridge International Examination" providing them with all past papers along with mark schemes needed.
- Teaching in open-air spaces and gardens, where students are able to move around and be active learners freely.

4. Why FUNglish?
- Because it's different, you as a student will get to play and have fun and improve your English skills as well.
- Because again it's different, you as a parent will get what you're looking for: high score in the CIE "checkpoint" without pushing your kid hard.
- Because eventually, all parties are happy: students & parents.

5. Am I teaching a different curriculum or a curriculum of my own?
- The answer is no, I am only teaching the same curriculum; applying different pedagogies, where scientifically are proved to be highly effective with learners.

6. Will I be wasting time playing with students?
- No, my English Score in the School I am currently working for has been going up each and every year; you as well will get to notice the significant improvement yourself.

7. Why 4 students per class?
- There is something called (task cycle) which needs to be carried out with learners for better attainment, where a student has to work individually, in pairs and in a group to discuss and analyze one task; having 4 students per class allows me to apply the task cycle thing easily, where I won't have to teach to an individual learner and yet not to cram too many students altogether.

Remember sharing and observing other students' work is really effective for students with different levels and intelligence.

Why FUNglish?

The whole story started with me when I was a student in school, where I was known as a trouble maker student!!

I wasn't a trouble maker!! I was and still an active and playful person :) who loves to move, talk, play, have fun and share ideas while learning new concepts.

From that moment on and especially when I started my teaching career and I am busy finding proper solutions to satisfy all parties: students, parents and teachers...

Since I am basically a year 6 English teacher "Cambridge Cheackpoint based year" and since again I am a very active person, so I thought, "Why don't I blend and integrate English with FUN?" so I came up with my own program: serving both, checkpoint preparation and fun.

Is this impossible!?
Obviously with FUNglish, it's not; it takes only a smart teacher to direct these different capabilities and intelligence into the right place, where both English and fun are blended all together.

The answer is NO, the whole point is that I am a certified teacher, where I am taught to apply and implement new highly-effective methods and techniques while teaching... WHY?
