Thrilled to announce the IEEE IMAS first talk which will be held during the IMAS’23 conference by 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐢. 🤩
He is a professor at the 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑺𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒂 and was a former member of the AdCom of IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (AP-S) and, Chair of the Award Committee of IEEE AP-S. Moreover, he received Award of the EurAAP in 2014, of the IEEE Schelkunoff Transaction Prize in 2016, of the Chen-To Tai Distinguished Educator award in 2016, and of the URSI Dellinger Gold Medal in 2020. ⭐
This talk will cover the topic of “𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐚-𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬”, which is concerned about both Meta surfaces (MTS) that are thin layers of subwavelength and Self-complementary Meta-surfaces (SCMs) which are single-layer metal patterns floating in free space. 🎆

IEEE IMAS second day has not approached its end yet as we will have our second talk which will start at 11:30 Am by the 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐑𝐚𝐚𝐟𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫. 🤩
He is Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐨. In addition, he holds 43 US and Canadian patents and more than 420 refereed IEEE publications to his credit. Also, he was as the Technical Program Chair of the 2012 𝑰𝑬𝑬𝑬 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑴𝒊𝒄𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝑺𝒚𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒖𝒎 (𝑰𝑴𝑺).

Reaching the end of the series, we are proud to introduce our final talk, 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐬, given by 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐍𝐮𝐧𝐨 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐡𝐥𝐨. ✨
Prof. Nuno received the Diploma and Doctoral degrees in electronics and telecommunications engineering from the 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑨𝒗𝒆𝒊𝒓𝒐, Portugal. He is currently a Full Professor and a Senior Research Scientist with the Institute of Telecommunications, 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑨𝒗𝒆𝒊𝒓𝒐 and an IEEE Fellow. He was the co-chair of the 𝐈𝐄𝐄𝐄 𝐌𝐓𝐓-20 Technical Committee of the IEEE Portuguese Section. 🎆🤩
In this talk, Prof Nuno will discuss the electricity generation problem and how to cope with the massive demand for ICT technologies. In addition to addressing new paradigms for radio communications and alternatives to make energy available when needed and where needed. 💫

He will walk us through everything about Disaggregated Open Optical Transport Networks (DOTN) ,what it aims to, and clarifying optical network disaggregation drivers, models, challenges, requirements, and describe a reference architecture for control and management of open optical networks implementing a partial disaggregation model. 🤩

Prof.Omar Received the B.Sc., M.Sc. and PHD degrees in electrical engineering in 1978, 1982 and 1986, respectively. He has been professor of electrical engineering since 1990 and director of the Chair of Microwave and Communication Engineering at the 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒅𝒆𝒃𝒖𝒓𝒈, 𝑮𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚. In 2014 and 2015, he chaired the Electrical and Computer Engineering at the 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑨𝒌𝒓𝒐𝒏, 𝑶𝒉𝒊𝒐, 𝑼𝑺𝑨. Dr. Omar is an IEEE Fellow as well. ⭐
His talk will focus mainly on how Millimeter waves (MMWs) are mostly absorbed within 1 to 2 millimeters of human skin and in the surface layers of the cornea, although the fifth-generation telecommunications technology (5G) changed the world upside down. Thus, the skin or near-surface zones of tissues are the primary targets of the radiation. 🎇

Prof. Atif Shamimm received his MS and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒆𝒕𝒐𝒏 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚, Canada in 2004 and 2009 and his research work has won best paper awards in IEEE ICMAC 2021, IEEE IMS 2016, IEEE MECAP 2016, IEEE EuWiT 2008, first prize in IEEE IMS 2019 3MT competition and IEEE AP-S Design Competition 2022, finalist/honorable mention prizes in IEEE AP-S Design Competition 2020, IEEE IMS 2017 (3MT competition), IEEE IMS 2014, IEEE APS 2005. 🔥 🔥
His talk will be mainly focusing on how to develop low-cost sensors by several applications including how to efficiently utilize sensors to the maximum and their benefits.
The talk will also include all the steps to take an electrical sensor from the lab to an oil field environment will be discussed in sequence and will highlight all the needed future work to improve this technology.
