After nearly 20 years in Egypt - except for a 7 month break, and travelling to my family every 2nd year or so, people still ask me why am I in Egypt. My answer was usually my Destiny - but lately I think its more than that, I think that Egypt is not a country that non-Egyptians can just love, or feel at home, its different living here than to have a holiday.
It has an "Ambience of Life" where I cannot find anywhere, and I have travelled to many countries. Maybe in my past life I was Egyptian : but seriously, I think a non Egyptian has to feel it in their blood, their veins, the feeling "OF BELONGING".
Some nights when I am out, or even sitting on my balcony, I feel a feeling inside my soul, feeling of mystery years ago, thinking of the Pharaoh days, the building of the temples, pyramids etc. The feeling of a land that is so blessed.
Yes Egypt has changed nothing stays the same, but still there is an air of magic, feeding my soul.
When I see the Nile, the desert, the old buildings, the local people on their farms, the millions of palm trees, its as though a feeling of peace comes over me, and I say el humdullah, thanks to God for the years I have been here.
Finally of course I must say thanks to all my friends in Masr, from as far as Aswan to Port Said, Cairo to Alexandria, and not to forget Monofia friends I have made in this town since 2012 has been amazing and there love and kindness is beyond expectations. To my family and friends and clients for your trust in me and support.
To you all who know me in Egypt thanks so much for your support and love it has not gone unnoticed. Even to my clients a big thank you .
