🔹 How to say "very " & "extremely" in Egyptian Arabic? 🇪🇬🗣

💡 In Egyptian Arabic, we usually use جداً (gedan) or قوي (awi) to mean "very":

✅ El mawdoo3 da sahl geddan / sahl awi.
(الموضوع ده سهل جدًا / سهل قوي.)
"This topic is very easy."

✅ El imti7ān kān sa‘b gedan / sa‘b awi.
(الامتحان كان صعب جدًا / صعب قوي.)
"The exam was very hard."

🚀 Other alternative to "very": by using في غاية (fi ghāyah)
We use في غاية (fi ghāyah), meaning "extremely."

✅ Very easy → في غاية السهولة
➡️ El mawdoo3 da fi ghāyati ssuhoolah.
(الموضوع ده في غاية السهولة.)
"This topic is extremely easy."

✅ Very hard → في غاية الصعوبة
➡️ El imti7ān kān fi ghāyati sso‘oobah.
(الامتحان كان في غاية الصعوبة.)
"The exam was extremely hard."

Using "تِرَبِّي" in Egyptian Arabic 🇪🇬

تِرَبِّي
(Tirabbi) means "to raise or educate well." Use it to compliment parents or describe good upbringing

🔹 حَضرتَكْ عِرِفْتْ تِرَبِّي.
➡️ You really know how to raise children well.

If you want to say "to be raised - you need to change the verb to passive form " - example below 👇

🔹 وَلَد مِشْ مِتْرَبِّي خَالِص!
➡️ He’s not well-raised at all! (Rude kid)

🔹 هُوّ لَازِمْ يِتْرَبَّى شُوَيَّة!
➡️ He needs some discipline!

Sometimes, كمان can be placed at the end of a sentence for emphasis.

Examples:

1. We will travel to Egypt in two more days.
→ هَنِسَافِرْ مَصْرْ يومين كمان.

2. I have three more weeks.
→ قُدَّامِي تَلَتْ اسَابِيعْ كمان.

3. We will go in five more hours.
→ هَنِيجِي خَمَسْ سَاعَاتْ كمان.

Key Difference:

Kaman + time → standard structure.

Time + كمان → Emphasizes the duration.

Now you can use both forms!

كمان + (time duration)

Examples:

2. You have three more weeks.
→ قُدَّامَكْ كَمَانْ تَلَتْ اسَابِيعْ.

3. We will go out in four more hours.

📝 Today’s lesson: Constructing invitation sentences.

❓ How do we invite someone to do something in the Egyptian dialect?

👉 Usually, we use يَلَّا, right?

🤓 But today, let’s learn a different way to make it sound more Egyptian! Hehe.

🔎 Key Phrase:

The phrase structure we will use to invite someone is:

مَاتِيجِي + الفعل المضارع للمتكلمين بدون باء.

📝 Let’s break down this phrase step-by-step:

🚶‍♂️ Step 1: Start with مَاتِيجِي. Read it as: *ma tii gi*.

💡 Literal Meaning: "How about you come."

🚶‍♀️ Step 2: Add any fi'il mudhari' (present tense verb) for nahnu (Arabic: نحن - *we*). Form: نفعل.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: The present tense verb must NOT have a بِ prefix at the start.

🧠 Remember this condition well!

🔍 Example Time!

Let’s say we want to create a sentence to invite someone to go out. 🌟

How do we say it?

1️⃣ Start with مَاتِيجِي. (Scroll back up 🔄 and check what it means)

2️⃣ Find a present tense verb that means "go out" and change it to refer to نحن (*we*).

🚪 What’s “go out” in Arabic?

خرج.

📝 Present tense form referring to نحن (we)?

نُخْرُجْ.

✨ Final Result:

مَاتِيجِي نُخْرُجْ؟
(Say this with an intonation that sounds like a suggestion or question)

🤩 Easy, right? Just follow the steps and adhere to the condition.

🗣 How do we translate this?

There are two possible ways:

1. “How about we go out?”
2. “Let’s go out?”

Both are correct and carry the same meaning! ✅

🔸Have you noticed that when we enter any office, Egyptians will say the word "khair"?

Does it mean "good" or "Are you fine?" here?

No, actually Egyptians use the word خير to mean "Yes?" in the context of a question.

🔸How is that?

For example, at the pharmacy, the pharmacist will say خير, which means "Yes, how can I help you?"

Another example: if someone suddenly comes to your home and knocks on the door harshly, in this situation, you would just say to him in a high tone, "خير", meaning "What!".

Here lies the power of Arabic.

We can say this whole sentence with just one word, and Arabs will understand. All we need to say is خير.

(The important thing is to raise your tone, as if you're asking a question.)

Or if you want to make it longer, you can say:

"خير, في حاجة"
("Yeah, what's up?")

🔸In conclusion, khair in certain situations does not translate to "good" or "fine". There are also situations (like in the current context) where it translates as "Yes?" or "What?".
