Al-Azhar strongly condemns the two terrorist attacks on a mosque and a gathering celebrating the Prophet’s birth anniversary in Pakistan
Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif calls for global solidarity with Pakistan in confronting waves of violence and extremism after two terrorist attacks that left dozens of victims
Al-Azhar Al-Sharif strongly condemns the two terrorist attacks that targeted innocent people in Pakistan. The first bombing targeted a gathering celebrating the Prophet’s birth anniversary near a mosque in Baluchistan, southwestern Pakistan, and claimed the lives of more than 50 people. And the second targeted a mosque in southern Peshawar, northwestern Pakistan, during Friday prayer, resulting in a death toll of at least 5 people and the injury of others, while dozens are still trapped under the rubble.
Al-Azhar Al-Sharif confirms that these despicable terrorist attacks that targeted Muslims in coincidence with the celebration of the Prophet’s birth anniversary constitute a departure from all the teachings and values of Islam that declare the lives of Muslims and non-Muslims inviolable. According to Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, such attacks also represent a deviation from all religious and human values and a form of spreading corruption on earth. Therefore, Al-Azhar stresses the need for global solidarity in confronting the waves of violence and extremism, and for cooperation in uprooting this black terrorism and extremist thought.
It expresses full solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in its massive loss and offers sincere condolences to the government and the people, and also to the families of the innocent victims. Al-Azhar thus prays to Allah Almighty to shower the victims with vast mercy and forgiveness, to reassure their families and loved ones, to grant the injured a speedy recovery, to assist the rescue and medical teams in helping the injured, and to guard Pakistan, the Muslim nation and the entire humanity against all forms of harm and evil; “Surely, to Allah we belong and unto Him we shall return.”
