The motivation for self directed learning is highly present in children. At Kompass we believe that this motivation should be kept alive because future personal success depends on it. Therefore, the active self-learning child is the underlying idea and the goal of our educational concept. r her individual learning process. Unlike traditional education, we offer a curriculum that is not equal for all children. Our curriculum focuses on the individual child and this is reflected in our consciously designed learning environment and the way our teachers interact with each child. The activities are based on the scale of childhood learning steps and are designed to allow each child to have the relevant experience in the things they need to learn. In addition, we offer the child an opportunity to deal with themes which match our cultural understanding of education including, for example classical music, art and architecture, painting or even a world map. Our Kindergarten is a meeting place for families and children from more than 20 countries with different cultural and religious backgrounds. Children make friends from all over the world. We see this cultural awareness and appreciation of difference as a very special opportunity for our children. The joint negotiation of rules, finding solutions as a team, respect and the ability to defend oneself or even dealing with stronger, weaker, older and younger people are all normal learning processes in the everyday life at our kindergarten. Our educational program for children is a sophisticated "Open House Learning” system. Where children don’t just receive specific educational offers but have access to a wide range of educational activities indoors and outdoors the entire day. Where the native speaking teachers communicate with the children in their mother tongues (English, German and Arabic) Where there is a possibility to learn and play in both mixed and same age groups. Where each child has their set place in a nest group that meets daily. And one teacher who is a contact person for both the child and the parents.
