🎨✨ Workshop Highlights | Artistic Architectural Rendering ✨🎨

The Architecture Department at Badr University in Cairo (BUC) was delighted to host the Artistic Architectural Watercolor Rendering Workshop, presented by our teaching assistant Eng. Roaa Bounni.

The workshop provided students with a creative and inspiring experience, where they explored watercolor rendering techniques and learned how to enhance architectural presentations through artistic visualization and expression. 🏛️🖌️

Throughout the workshop, participants had the opportunity to:
• Learn the fundamentals of architectural watercolor rendering
• Practice artistic presentation techniques
• Develop their visualization and creative skills.
• Engage in a hands-on interactive learning experience

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan El-Qalla and Professor Dr. Ashraf El-Shehhi, the Civilizational Rights Institute, in cooperation with Badr University, organized a specialized training program for preparing trainers and ambassadors of Civilizational Rights under the title:
“Civilizational Rights and Civisiology Science (Opportunity – Challenge – Change).”

The lecture was delivered by Professor Dr. Ahmed Rashid, President of the Civilizational Rights Institute in the United States of America, in the presence of a distinguished group of professors and academics from various scientific disciplines, including Dr. Safaa Ahmed, President of the Arab Council for Culture and Heritage, and Dr. Hosni, Director of the Unit for Human Studies and the Future of Civilizations at the Civilizational Rights Institute.

Dr. Marwa Emad Fikry, Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture at Badr University, along with a number of students, participated in the training program held at Badr University in Cairo. The program reflected the importance of preserving civilizational rights and enhancing awareness of architectural heritage

Bridging the gap between architectural design theory and real-world ex*****on was the focus of a two-phase specialized workshop organized by the Department of Architectural Engineering at Badr University in Cairo.

Held under the patronage of Prof. Dalia Bahaa, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and the leadership of Prof. Mona Aggour, Head of the Architectural Engineering Department, the workshop was titled:

“Architectural Strategies for Interior Spaces:
Material-Driven Integration of Daylighting and Acoustics.”

The workshop was delivered in two integrated phases.
The first phase took place on campus, addressing how interior finishing materials influence acoustic performance and daylight integration, with a focus on performance-driven material selection.
The second phase was a practical site visit to Swedish Group EG, where students explored real-world applications of acoustic systems, materials, and ex*****on detailing.

The workshop was presented by Eng. Islam Al-Banna and Eng. Minas Emil Sarkies, who shared professional insights drawn from real projects and ex*****on-based experience.

The academic framework of the workshop was aligned with the Acoustics and Lighting course under the coordination of Associate Professor Dr. Doha Saeed, Course Coordinator, ensuring a clear connection between course objectives and professional practice.

This experience reaffirmed that integrating education with practice is not optional — it is essential.

In the context of the scientific activities of the Department of Architectural Engineering, and under the patronage of 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐃𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐚, 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲, the 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 was successfully held on 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, 𝐚𝐭 𝟏𝟎:𝟎𝟎 𝐚.𝐦., at the 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠.

The conference was honored by the presence of 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐡𝐝𝐲,Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies ,𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐀𝐠𝐠𝐨𝐮𝐫, Head of the Department of Architectural Engineering, and 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐓𝐚𝐡𝐚 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐦,Professor of Architectural and Urban Design at Capital University, who served as the 𝐊𝐞𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫, in addition to heads of departments, faculty members, teaching assistants, and students from all academic levels.

The conference was held under the theme “𝐀 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐦 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐟𝐭: 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐈-𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞,”and featured a distinguished series of academic lectures delivered by the keynote speaker and faculty members of the department.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐞lecture, presented by 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐓𝐚𝐡𝐚 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐦 and titled “𝐀𝐫𝐭 & 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬,”explored the deep and reciprocal relationship between art and architecture, highlighting how various artistic movements have shaped architectural thought throughout history, as well as contemporary conceptual transformations and the role of creativity and advanced technologies in redefining architectural vision.

This was followed by a lecture by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐰𝐚 𝐄𝐥 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐲, Lecturer at the department, titled “𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧,” which discussed how generative design and digital fabrication have become transformative tools in contemporary architectural practice, enabling more adaptive, data-driven, and innovative design processes.

Another lecture was delivered by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐰𝐚 𝐄𝐦𝐚𝐝, Associate Professor at the department, titled “𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐔𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐈 𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐚ç𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧.”The presentation highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in improving the efficiency of building and finishing materials—particularly in architectural façades—by enhancing performance, aesthetics, and sustainability. It also presented a real case study in Cairo demonstrating how smart materials and interactive systems can enhance façade efficiency and support the adoption of intelligent solutions in the Egyptian market.

The conference also included student presentations showcasing the participation of students and graduates in the department competition “𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐱 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐚 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲,” featuring project displays and an honoring ceremony for the participants. In addition, students shared their experiences in external competitions, including achieving first place in the 𝐐𝐞𝐫𝐪𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 by students 𝐇𝐞𝐛𝐚 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐊𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫

The program also highlighted the department’s collaboration with 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 through the workshop “𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐬,” presented by student 𝐇𝐞𝐛𝐚 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧,aiming to promote experiential learning beyond the traditional academic framework and encourage peer participation in similar opportunities.

The conference concluded with the honoring of academically outstanding students across all levels, in appreciation of their efforts and excellence, as well as extending sincere thanks and appreciation to faculty members, teaching assistants, and the student organizing team for their outstanding efforts in organizing the event.

The Department also extends its sincere appreciation to 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚 𝐀𝐥𝐢 (𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲) for her attendance and valuable support.
