๐ฌ Deciphering Transcriptional Regulatory Networks That Control Salinity Stress Tolerance in Rapeseed Plants at the Germination Stage
๐จโ๐ฌ Dr Ibrahim A. A. Mohamed
๐๏ธ Agricultural Botany Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Fayoum University, Egypt
๐ฑ This study aimed to unravel the molecular and transcriptomic mechanisms underlying salinity tolerance (NaCl) during the four phases of seed germination in rapeseed cultivars.
๐ Results showed that the salt-tolerant cultivar (YY9) exhibited significantly higher antioxidant enzyme activities and growth-promoting phytohormone levels compared to the salt-sensitive one (ZS11).
๐งฌ Furthermore, integrative RNA-seq analysis identified key gene expression networks involved in plant hormone signal transduction (such as Auxin, GA, and ABA) and metabolic pathways that drive salt tolerance and seedling establishment.

๐งฌ Sequencing the Nucleocapsid of Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus is a Step Towards Understanding the Peanut Breaking Resistance in Alabama ๐งฌ
๐ค Mr Abdelaal H.A. Shehata
๐ข Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology, Auburn University, Auburn AL
๐ฌ This study investigated the sudden increase in the severity and incidence of Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus (TSWV) affecting resistant peanut cultivars in Alabama during 2021 and 2022.
๐งซ To test the hypothesis of viral mutations, researchers sequenced the nucleocapsid gene of symptomatic peanut samples collected across multiple research stations.
๐งฌ The protein alignments successfully revealed six amino acid changes in 2021 and two additional changes in 2022, which may be responsible for breaking the plant's genetic resistance to TSWV.

Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell-Derived Neural Stem Cell Therapy Enhances Recovery in an Ischemic Stroke Pig Model
๐จโโ๏ธ Dr Mohammed Adel Gomaa Sayed
๐๏ธ Debusk College of Osteopathic Medicine โ Lincoln, Memorial University, USA
๐ฌ This study demonstrates that transplanting induced pluripotent stem cell-derived neural stem cells (iNSCs) significantly improves stroke recovery through neuroprotective and regenerative mechanisms. Longitudinal MRI monitoring in a translational pig stroke model revealed reduced damage to white matter integrity, cerebral blood perfusion, and brain metabolism. The transplanted iNSCs successfully differentiated and integrated into the brain tissue long-term, strongly supporting their potential as a critical therapeutic for human stroke patients.

๐พ MGBS Lecture 2023: Introgression of 1kbp Insertion at the 5'UTR Region of the HAACTI Gene Improves Plant Performance Under Acidic Soil Growth Conditions in Barley
๐ค Dr Hewan Demissie
Hawassa University, College of Agriculture, School of Plant and Horticulture Science, Hawassa, Sidama, Ethiopia.
๐ This study aimed to develop acid-soil-tolerant barley by crossing a susceptible Ethiopian line with a resistant Japanese line characterized by a 1 kbp transposable element insertion in the HvAACT1 gene. A set of 324 barley lines was evaluated under acidic soil conditions in Ethiopia. The results revealed highly significant genetic variations in twelve agro-morphological and yield traits. Ultimately, lines carrying the 1 kbp insertion demonstrated superior growth and performance, proving to be highly valuable genetic resources for future barley breeding programs.
