Good morning everyone,

Ramadan is a month full of special traditions, family gatherings, and celebrations in the Arab world. Some common practices include:
✨ Suhoor – the pre-dawn meal before fasting begins
✨ Iftar – breaking the fast at sunset with family and friends
✨ Charity (Zakat & Sadaqah) – giving to those in need
✨ Ramadan lanterns (فوانيس رمضان) – decorating homes and streets
✨ Community prayers (Taraweeh) – praying at the mosque after Isha

Happy Friday! 🎶 It’s time for our weekly Friday Song Post!

Today, we're doing something new: a Kahoot-style quiz based on the popular Arabic song, "نقطة بيضا" by the band Cairokee! This is a great way to practice your listening and vocabulary skills.

The quiz is divided into several parts. Each section targets different parts of the song's lyrics, and the final section has the full lyrics and a translation so you can check your answers and learn!

A Beautiful Cultural Exchange: My Journey with Students from Taiwan 🇹🇼🌍

What a truly inspiring, memorable, and successful journey it's been with a wonderful group of students from National Chengchi University (NCCU) on one of my intensive Arabic programs!

This six-month course was designed to bring learners to B2 proficiency on the CEFR (Advanced Low ACTFL) by focusing on both Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and Egyptian Colloquial Arabic (ECA). This dual-track approach resulted in significant proficiency gains, proving the effectiveness of the immersive and communicative methods.

Beyond the rigorous classroom hours, a major highlight was our shared meal at a local restaurant. 🍽️ This was more than just a dinner; the students actually chose the spot to enjoy some of their favorite Egyptian meals, like محشي (mahshi) and ملوخية (molokhia)! It was a perfect opportunity for them to apply their Egyptian Colloquial Arabic skills in a natural, social setting, solidifying the skills they had acquired.

Their dedication and enthusiasm have been truly incredible to witness. This program not only advanced their linguistic skills but also built strong cultural bridges. The friendships and lessons learned will last long after the program has ended.
