Qortoba Institute for Arabic Studies (QIAS) invites you to study the distinctive language of Arabic in the heart of one of the most culturally vibrant and diverse cities of Egypt, Alexandria (Al-Askandariyyah). QIAS has been established with the aim of teaching Modern Standard Arabic (Fus'ha) to students world-wide. Through both our on-site and distance learning programs, we are able to accomodate

students globally, with a focus on teaching students from non-Arabic speaking countries. The QIAS method is to teach classical Arabic by solely utilizing the Arabic language in the classroom. We have found this to be the best technique for gaining a complete understanding of words and phrases, as well as developing our students' conversational and written skills. At QIAS, we believe that a third of learning Arabic depends on your teacher. We have spared no effort in acquiring and training our teachers to a very high standard. We understand that having knowledge of a thing does not mean that one can teach, so we have developed a training period that only the most committed teachers can pass. We also require our teachers to have a degree in the Arabic language itself and also in an Islamic science. Our teachers are not only selected for their knowledge, but also for their interpersonal skills. Our teachers are Qortoba. If our teachers fail, then we fail. The Arabic language is the key to a treasure-trove of knowledge, the gateway to an ancient and rich civilization. For Muslims, it is the bedrock of a comprehensive understanding and application of divine revelation. We arrange full accommodation in Egypt's beautiful state of Alexandria right on the beach, and take care of all enrollment requirements. All you have to do is pack your bags, and be on your way to speaking, reading, and writing in classical Arabic!

As humans we tend to categorize others based on how their relationship with us and others is. If someone is truthful and honest with you, you would call that person honest, if someone was generous then he would be known as that.

What we tend to neglect is how that person dealt with Allah. A person might be honest in their dealings with you but lie about Allah and claim Allah has a son, they might be generous with you and also spend on impermissible things, perhaps on ways that fight your beliefs.

So how should we gage the goodness of people? Allah The Most Gracious has told us the way, Allah said in surat Al-Hujurat

"Verily the most noble of you with Allah are those who are most God fearing" 49:13

Ignorance and corruption is just as widespread in these lands as other lands, in fact maybe even more. I have never seen women offering black Magic and fortune telling services in the streets of Western countries but I have seen it here many times. May Allah guide us all.
