Youth Vision for the City Using Artificial Intelligence

CT Lab – City Transformation Lab, Alexandria University, Faculty of Fine Arts announces an open call for students of the Faculty to participate in the initiative “Youth Vision for the City Using Artificial Intelligence.”

The initiative is organised under the patronage of the Architecture Committee and the Artificial Intelligence Committee at the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the universities of Alexandria, and hosted by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

🗓️ Duration: 5–12 September 2026

Opportunities for Faculty of Fine Arts:

🎓 20 student participants
🧑‍🏫 2 volunteers / teaching assistants (BSc, MSC, or PhD holders).

The aim is to discover & document everyday places & details that hold value and meaning for the youth of Alexandria, while using AI tools responsibly to transform observations & ideas into visual narratives about the city.

يعلن معمل التحول الحضري – CT Lab بكلية الفنون الجميلة، جامعة الإسكندرية عن فتح باب التقديم لطلاب الكلية للمشاركة في مبادرة «رؤية شبابية للمدينة باستخدام الذكاء الاصطناعي».

تُقام المبادرة تحت رعاية لجنة العمارة ولجنة الذكاء الاصطناعي بوزارة الثقافة، وبالتعاون مع جامعات الإسكندرية، وتستضيفها Bibliotheca Alexandrina - مكتبة الإسكندرية

🗓️ مدة المبادرة:
من ٥ الي 12 سبتمبر 2026.

فرص المشاركة من كلية الفنون الجميلة:

🎓 20 طالبًا مشاركًا
🧑‍🏫 2 متطوعين / مساعدين تدريس من حملة البكالوريوس أو الماجستير أو الدكتوراه.

تهدف المبادرة إلى اكتشاف وتوثيق الأماكن والتفاصيل اليومية التي تحمل قيمة ومعنى لدى شباب الإسكندرية، واستخدام أدوات الذكاء الاصطناعي بصورة مسؤولة لتحويل الملاحظات والرؤى إلى سرديات بصرية عن المدينة.

Not every lesson is learned inside a classroom. Some begin with a walk through a city, the shade of a tree, or a conversation between cultures.

A delegation from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University participated in the Experiencing Nature Outside! International School, hosted by Politecnico di Milano, Italy, as part of the Erasmus+ Pro-GREEN-LABs project.

The delegation included Prof. Nevin Gharib, Dean of the Faculty and Project Coordinator;
Dr. Mona Elsafty, Instructor in the project's courses;
Dr. Hebah Moanis, Deputy Director of the CT Lab, and project member;
and Eng. Rawan Waleed, project team member.

Throughout the week, Milan became an open classroom where lectures, field visits, environmental measurements, and collaborative design merged into one learning experience. Beyond technical knowledge, the workshop showed how culture shapes our perception of public spaces and reinforced that creating sustainable cities depends on integrating architecture, urban planning, environmental and social sciences.

Working alongside students and researchers from different countries fostered knowledge exchange, new perspectives, and lasting academic connections. The delegation also joined the Pro-GREEN-LABs consortium meetings to discuss the project's final phase and the sustainability of its outcomes.

A journey that reminded us that meaningful learning begins when we step into the city—and learn to see it through new eyes.

ليست كل الدروس تُقدَّم داخل قاعات الدراسة؛ فبعضها يبدأ بخطوة في شارع، أو ظل شجرة، أو حوار بين ثقافتين.

شارك وفد كلية الفنون الجميلة – جامعة الإسكندرية في المدرسة الدولية Experiencing Nature Outside! التي استضافتها Politecnico di Milano بإيطاليا، ضمن أنشطة مشروع Erasmus+ Pro-GREEN-LABs.

ضم الوفد أ.د. نيفين غريب، عميد الكلية ومدير المشروع، د. منى الصفتي، من القائمين على تدريس مقررات المشروع، د. هبة مؤنس، نائب مدير CT Lab، وعضو الفريق، وم.م. روان وليد، عضو الفريق.

على مدار أسبوع، تحولت مدينة ميلانو إلى مساحة مفتوحة للتعلم؛ جمعت بين المحاضرات، والجولات الميدانية، والقياسات البيئية، والعمل التصميمي داخل فرق دولية متعددة التخصصات. لكن الدرس الأهم كان في المدينة نفسها، حيث كشفت التجربة كيف تؤثر الثقافة في إدراكنا للفراغات العامة، وأكدت أن بناء مدن أكثر استدامة يتطلب تكامل العمارة، والتخطيط والعلوم البيئية والاجتماعية.

كما أتاحت الورشة فرصة لتبادل الخبرات وبناء روابط علمية ومهنية جديدة مع طلاب وباحثين من جامعات وثقافات مختلفة، إلى جانب مشاركة الوفد في اجتماعات شركاء Pro-GREEN-LABs لمناقشة المرحلة الختامية للمشروع واستدامة مخرجاته.

رحلة أكدت أن التعلم الحقيقي يبدأ عندما نخرج إلى المدينة... وننظر إليها بعيون جديدة.

Organized by TICCIH, this webinar explores the outcomes of the workshop by comparing and contextualizing its main themes alongside academic and community-based experiences from Kolkata.
