ABC’s Mission Statement
Dear student,
Since its inception, the American British Centre has strived to provide guidance and instruction in order to meet the rapidly expanding need for cross-cultural communication. Now, more than ever, language abilities in English, French, Italian, German, and Turkish are becoming vital tools in the conduction of business, politics, and cultural relations worldwide. Learning a new language can be extremely difficult, especially when considering the nuanced differences between dialects of a single language. Distinctions between American English and British English or between continental European Spanish and Latin American Spanish can lead to a student receiving an incomplete education. That is to say, a student may learn a crude, generalized form of the language, but lack the cultural and dialectical understandings that would make their mastery of the language complete. Our mission at the American British Centre is to provide comprehensive language instruction that includes the context of cultural and dialectical understanding, thereby enabling students to gain a more thorough and accomplished proficiency. Our vision for realizing this mission is defined by:
• Offering courses in the specific form of a language the student wants to learn.
• Employing well-qualified teachers who have an understanding not only of their language of instruction, but also of the mentality of the Egyptian Student.
• Utilizing up-to date teaching methods and curriculums.
• Supplementing language instruction with cultural knowledge.
• Limiting class size in order to devote more attention to the specific needs of the individual student.
