Q1: What is value-based organization?

Definition 1: Value-based organization as a concept refers to an organization where organizational values are defined and applied in leadership in terms of increasing motivation of personnel, commitment, and rewarding.

Furthermore, in value-based organizations, organizational values are used to foster better communication and to reinforce decision-making and preferred actions (Viinamäki, 2012)

There is no shared definition in literature and the term VBO is often used without specifying what is meant by it exactly.

Definition 2: A key element within studies on VBOs is that those organizations have an ideal mission and identity (Bruni & Smerilli, 2009).

What are blunders?
A blunder that results from offering an inappropriate product or service that has negative economic impact on the firm or from how the product/service is offered. This occurs when a product or service offered does not meet societal needs or cultural norms.

It could be because of:
1- Culture Clash: in spite of cultural misunderstanding. Personal mannerisms acceptable in the United States may be offensive in other nations.
2- Global Blunders:
Language is another cultural barrier. A word, brand or product name in one language may have an entirely different meaning in another.

For example, names can pose a problem. Ge**er, the baby food company, has a problem in France, where “Ge**er” translates as “vomit.” Microsoft’s Vista translates to “frumpy woman” in Latvia. Some companies are lucky. Nike’s name in China is modified to “Nai Ke” which translates as “Endurance Conquer.” Even colors can make a difference. In the U.S., white is a color for purity; in Japan, it represents death. Red connotes danger in the U.S., but it symbolizes luck in China.

How badly affect companies?
• It may lead that companies may lose its great reputation which its trying to build over years.

• People may boycott this company and its products that they may think its bringing bad luck or humiliating their culture, which may lead to huge drop in sales and profits.
