The Center for Fundamental Physics at Zewail City
Current research at the Center is focused on understanding physics at the smallest and largest scales and the remarkable interfaces linking them.

Our Story
In February 2012, the Center for Fundamental Physics was inaugurated as the first of a series of research institutes to be hosted by Zewail City for Science and Technology.
Current research at the Center is focused on understanding physics at the smallest and largest scales and the remarkable interfaces linking them. This includes formal theoretical aspects and phenomenology of elementary particle models; cosmology and the early universe; the nature of dark matter, and the formation and evolution of galaxies, clusters and large scale structures in the universe. Several of our members are also involved in the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, which aims at testing the Standard Model of particle physics and searching for new physics beyond it.
