Border towns VALGA and VALKA become a stage!

From 29 April 2026, CPPM - MA in Contemporary Physical Performance Making students have been embedded in VARES, the Valga Architecture Residency, for Valga/Valka: Space × Architecture × Performance: a site-specific residency exploring performance, architecture, public space and community on the Estonian Latvian border. After twelve months in the black box studio at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Tallinn, students are now working in the streets and public spaces of Valga with Mona Camille, Olivier Van Den Hende and Peader Kirk, exploring mapping, walking, embodied enquiry, urban performance, found materials, relational aesthetics and guerrilla filmmaking.

The residency culminates on Friday, 8 May 2026, during Valga’s first Long Table event, where CPPM artists will join local communities with processions, homemade breads, films made in Valga and songs from their cultures. Join us in Valga this Friday — come walk, gather, listen, taste and share in this performance gift to the town.

CPPM TRIPTYCH: POLITICAL MOVEMENT is coming! 13/01/2026

CPPM is excited to announce the premiere of CPPM TRIPTYCH: POLITICAL MOVEMENT, a vibrant performance programme featuring three newly devised works by the international cohort of the MA in Contemporary Physical Performance Making (CPPM) at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. The CPPM TRIPTYCH premieres on 23 January 2026 and continues with performances on 24, 26, 27, 28 and 29 January 2026.

CPPM TRIPTYCH: POLITICAL MOVEMENT brings three distinct performances into one shared curatorial frame: political movement. Across the evening, audiences are invited into three different artistic worlds, three different devising strategies, and three different ways of transforming individual perspectives into collective action. Expect cultural polyphony, sharp theatrical contrasts, and a compelling sense of how movement can be political, physical, and poetic all at once.
