: Maximising Impact

This years ID Forum brings together 150 people to share experiences, learn from each other, and develop ideas to make EU Youth programmes more inclusive and accessible for everyone.

The topic of this forum is "Maximising Impact". It focuses on reflecting on inclusion and diversity in the current programme generation, looking towards what comes next and exploring today's key inclusion and diversity related challenges.

SALTO PI is engaged in a long-term project with SALTO I&D on inclusive youth participation.

Hannah from SALTO PI and Henrique from gave a workshop last week called "From access to influence: inclusive youth participation in EU policy" which looked at how youth participation can be redesigned so young people with fewer opportunities can shape decisions, policies and agendas.

Participants co-created recommendations for more inclusive youth participation, which will contribute to policy recommendations for the next generation of EU youth programmes.

Are you a young person between 18 and 30 years old, experienced in Erasmus+ and/or the European Solidarity Corps programmes and passionate about youth participation in democratic life? Apply to become a youth representative in the Youth Participation Strategy (YPS) Steering Group for the 2026-2027 mandate.

We are looking for six youth representatives (18-30 years old) who:
- have experience with the Erasmus+ and/or European Solidarity Corps programmes;
- have experience in youth participation at local, national and/or international level; and
- have an interest in strengthening youth participation in the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps programmes

Explore how the participation priority takes shape in practice: how many projects actually address it, in which sectors and countries, who runs them, and how many people they reach.

Commissioned by SALTO Participation & Information Resource Centre and carried out by Dan Moxon and Ondřej Bárta on behalf of People, Dialogue and Change, these four reports map every Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps project that addressed the participation priority across the 2021 to 2024 call years, 21,010 in total. The same categories are applied throughout, so that the Youth field, Education and Training, and Sport can finally be compared with one another.

Designed for National Agencies, trainers and researchers, the reports provide a baseline for promoting the priority, designing sector-specific support, and understanding where participation sits across both programmes.

MEET THE TEAM!

Meet Christopher Radovici, our Research & Resource Coordinator

Christopher Radovici, PhD, works at the intersection of European cooperation, youth participation, and policy.
With a background in European affairs and international relations, he has contributed to a range of international projects and initiatives across Europe, bringing experience in research, stakeholder engagement, and cross-sector collaboration.
Alongside his professional work, Christopher has been actively involved in civil society for over a decade.
He is a Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Gold finalist and an alumnus of programmes including the European Forum Alpbach, Aspen Institute, ASEF, and the Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI).
He continues to contribute to organisations and think tanks across the Danube Region and previously founded a social entrepreneurship initiative focused on civic engagement and social innovation.

Is there a book, podcast or film that made me rethink participation, democracy or inclusion?

A New Philosophy of Society by Manuel DeLanda. It reframed my understanding of democracy as evolving social assemblages, where institutions matter, but outcomes ultimately emerge through the complex but uncomplicated interactions of people, ideas, and contexts.

We are so lucky to have him at SALTO PI!

Why municipal youth participation?
Seminar in Budapest, Hungary, jointly with the Council of Europe

The Council of Europe Youth Department, in the framework of the project Youth revitalising democracy, and the Democracy Reloading Partnership of Erasmus+ national agencies are organising a joint Seminar for municipal youth participation policy makers.

Deadline: 15th September

The objectives of the event:

Becoming familiar with the provisions of the new European Charter on the Participation of Young People in Local and Regional Life and identifying ways in which they can be implemented in the participants’ realities

Learning about Council of Europe standards for local youth participation in democratic life and understanding the Democracy Reloading concept and its tools supporting municipal youth participation in decision-making

Sharing experience and practices among participants

Providing some insight into the practices of municipal youth participation in the municipality of Budapest and the district municipalities.

Who is this training course for?

Primarily for municipal youth policy officers and local political representatives focusing on youth policy and citizens, secondary it is also open to youth workers who coordinate / support youth council or other types of youth participation structures, who want to implement or improve the youth participation in municipal decision-making,
Participants must be able to follow the training course in English language,
Priority will be given to participants from countries that are members of the Democracy Reloading Partnership.

Participants are entitled to receive a Youthpass certificate from the organiser, for recognition of their competence development during the activity.

What do European youth trainers want from the next Erasmus+? That was the big question at the Trainers' Forum 2026, where around 50 trainers working across youth work, adult education and non-formal learning compared notes.

They talked freelance trainer struggles, working with National Agencies, and rural youth participation.
They also got a first look at the Commission's plans for Erasmus+ 2028–2034, a bigger, merged programme, but one where the youth consultation behind it apparently didn't get much input.

Meet The Team

Meet our learning & capacity building coordinator, Alina Besleaga

𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐮𝐬 𝐚 𝐛𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟

I am a power-literate educator with a strong belief in co-creation and a systemic approach.

I am from Moldova, where for about 10 years I supported youth participation and civic engagement through Volunteering programs, the National Council of Pupils, Erasmus+ international mobility projects, and a variety of local and national projects. After an International Erasmus Mundus Master in Adult Education for Social Change, I landed in SALTO PI, where since July 2024 I am the Learning and Capacity Building coordinator, because I love working at the intersection of policy on democracy and human rights, and concepts & practice of youth work and critical adult education.

I am mindful and intentional about my contribution to both my work and the world around me.

Book: The Power of Critical Theory for Adult Learning and Teaching by Stephen D. Brookfield - it helped me position the rights-based approach of participation in the complex and dynamic social contexts, where intersectionality is at the heart of understanding rights, freedoms and equity.
