UX researchersโ€™ MeetUp: โ€žWhen Academy meets Industryโ€œ

This Wednesday the students of the Human-Computer Interaction master program had a great chance to meet their future colleagues and employers from the industry. While UX design researchers from the most famous companies in the field had an opportunity to share their experiences and get some new ideas about UX in general from the perspective of an academic institution.
UX researchers' meetup at Tallinn University is happening already for the fourth time during this academic year. While the previous 3 meetups were organized for students and alumni of the HCI program to share knowledge, then this last meetup happened to be special. The event brought together HCI students and industrial UX researchers from 20 companies.

UX researcher Hanna-Stella Haaristo from the design agency Velvet had a presentation with the topic: โ€œDesign researcher in a design agency - who is that?โ€. The second talk was presented by our alumna and now Senior User Researcher at Veriff company Maria Vous. Mariaโ€™s topic was about building a research mindset in an organization aka โ€œHow to sell the need for you and your position?โ€

To conclude this exciting event with something really practical, lecturer of the School of Digital technologies Mati Mรตttus and junior research fellow Mustafa Can ร–zdemir demonstrated a facial expression analysis tool that HCI students use for usability testing.

We would like to thank everyone for participating. A lot more exciting meetups are coming soon!
