Digital Health MSc programme

Digital Health MSc programme Digital Health MSc is a unique Masterโ€™s programme in Europe taught in Tallinn University of Technology.

The programme is for people who are interested in healthcare management combined with information technology and innovation. Digital Health Master's (formerly known as Health Care Technology) curriculum in Tallinn Technical University is a unique study program in Europe and it will prepare digital health specialists who have acquired the know-how and skills to understand, create and work with eHealth systems. The goal of the course is to teach the students to understand the purpose, structure and functionality of eHealth systems. The students will look how to process medical information, standardization and how to communicate eHealth technology to patients. All together 17 amazing authors!

๐Ÿ™Special thanks to Mall Maasik to pushing the book over the finish line, Kristi Tamtik and Mihkel Martinson for triple checking the terminology.

There was a lot of interest in the event.The textbook presentation at Mektory today in terms of Teadlaste ร–ร– (Researchers' Night Festival) brought together many people from other universities, hospitals, the public sector and private companies.

In the first part of the presentation Peeter Ross, Riina Hallik and Elli Valla introduced the textbook and shared how it came together.

๐Ÿค”A panel discussion followed, asking: โ€œDo we need Digital Health specialists, or specialists with Digital Health knowledge?โ€ Panellists Jandra Sule, Karin Rรครคsk, Iris Tรตnismaa and Doris Kaljuste, with Priit Kruus as moderator, explored how to best use the textbook and what is the current situation of teaching Digital Health in TalTech, University of Tartu and in Tallinna Tervishoiu Kรตrgkool.

According to lecturer Priit Kruus, the course is suitable for students who want to understand how health systems have developed, how they operate today, how they are financed, and how effective they are at keeping us healthy and achieving their goals.

I especially valued learning to compare financing and purchasing models and analyse the incentives they create. According to the lecturer, Prof. Dr Peeter Ross, this course is suitable for students who want to gain a basic understanding of developments in e-health in Estonia and beyond. After successfully completing the course, students will understand the structure and role of e-health in healthcare. No prior knowledge is required.

The international guests of the Centre for Digital Health brought us together for an inspiring afternoon of lectures, discussion, and knowledge exchange.

The event was opened by Digital Health MSc programme Director Doris Kaljuste, who introduced our guest speakers.

We had the pleasure of hearing from ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ท Anamaria Maleลกeviฤ‡, who spoke about readiness for digitalisation and AI in healthcare, sharing examples from Croatia and the experiences of patients with autoimmune diseases.

๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต Jeyoon Choi introduced NeuroTAIA, exploring how individuals can gain enforceable control over their brain data and how advances in computational neuroscience can support data governance in neuroimaging.

๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช Prof. Dr. Daniela Eidt-Koch shared insights into digital health technologies and recommendations for their further development and adoption in Germany, drawing on best-practice examples.

The afternoon was a wonderful opportunity to learn from international experiences, exchange ideas and connect with colleagues across disciplines and countries.
