The 2nd edition of Playformance, presented by EVA Lab and the New Media Department of EKA will be staged again at Möku the 21st of may, Telliskivi tn 57, Tallinn.
Playformances are artistic and performative practices within a video game that uses the act of playing itself for narrative construction. At the crossroads of video games, live performance, and critical reflection, the term playformance was coined by the French collective Sous les Néons to designate a form of performative art. It is a situated performance that uses the game’s mechanics, its universe, and its relationship with the player as expressive materials.
Playformances became popular with the French collective Sous-les Néons or the artists, researchers, and filmmaker collective under the name Total Refusal and more earlier with the pioneer of this genre Joseph Delappe. This Thursday 21st of May, a group of EKA’s students will approach videogames in a way you have never seen.
