One day as a volunteer at Britanica could be described like this: play, help, inspire, share about your country, talk to teens, lead activities, support learning, and have fun together. The day was especially special, as Tara came with her bestie, who arrived all the way from Germany 🇩🇪🫶🇪🇪

Long before costumes and candy, the ancient Celts celebrated Samhain, a spooky night
Now we just eat too many sweets and have fun! 🍬👻🇮🇪

Barmbrack is an Irish Halloween tradition. It’s a special sweet bread filled with dried fruit, usually eaten with butter and a warm drink.

What makes it fun is that little charms are hidden inside the loaf before it’s baked! Each charm has a meaning — for example:
💍 A ring means you’ll get married someday
💰 A coin means good luck or money.
🪡 A thimble means you’ll stay single.

It’s a lovely, cozy Irish Halloween treat for children and families. 🎃🍞🇮🇪
