Join us for our annual interactive exhibition, powered by the artists of the Master’s in Interaction Design at EKA.
This year, you’ll experience installations that let you confess and smell your sins, make music with your body, enjoy traditional Estonian Laulupidu music through wooden dolls, and even play a toilet game.
The installations will be set up on the ground floor of the Lift99 building (yes, right next to the demolition works). In the coming days, we’ll publish a video for those who haven’t visited the space before.
We’ll begin setting up early in the morning and spend the whole day with the installation. It’s traditionally been a day-long party, so feel free to bring your friends — and your friends’ friends too.

This Wednesday, we invite you to an open lecture that will expand your understanding of what Interaction Design is and can do: Counter Designing—Animals and Algorithms as Creative Agents, by Pablo Hermansen.
Pablo Ignacio Hermansen Ulibarri is a designer with a PhD in Architecture and Urban Studies. He teaches and conducts research at the School of Design at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. His work focuses on co-design, interaction design, socio-natural ecosystems, photo-ethnography, performative politics in public space, more-than-human prototyping, and public services as public space.
Join us for the talk on Wednesday, April 16 at 18:00 in EKA room A501.

Knowing when to rest depends on how well we get along with our bodies. Whether we get the help needed depends on our interactions with our doctors. Using a new machine effectively depends on how well it understands us. Whether we’ll live in a green future depends on the industries’ ability to successfully collaborate.
The world is made of pieces. The world is moved forward by the interactions between these pieces.
Born from digital design, bound to create a future we need—Interaction Designers shape the meaningful, value-creating relationships we have with the world around us.
A couple days left to apply. Come and study IxD at EKA, let’s create the future together!

Team 2022 is right now in Fukuoka, Japan🇯🇵, for a two week study trip on the theme of emotional wellbeing and loneliness.
Japan is a model example of a society where the extremely fast development of technology collides with the adaptability of humans, causing a lot of stress both on the community and the individual level. Many of these concerns are also becoming topical in the rapidly ageing society in the West. In our first collaboration project with the Kyushu University, we hope to learn from that experience so that we can make better forward-looking decisions as designers at home.
In the first week, the team did a deep dive into the Japanese culture in Tokyo and the picturesque Yabakei village, exploring innovation and design museums and visiting different institutions dealing with connecting people, from high-tech robot cafes to community centres and solitary remote temples.
Right now, we are putting the inspiration gathered into use in a workshop led by Melanie Sarantou, Tokushu Inamura and Zhang Yanfang from the Department of Strategic Design at Kyushu University, and Tanel Kärp, Ruth-Helene Melioranski from Eesti Kunstiakadeemia / Estonian Academy of Arts.
