Eesti Diplomaatide Kool / Estonian School of Diplomacy Kõrgkoolijärgne täiendõpe "Rahvusvahelised suhted ja Euroopa integratsioon". Post-graduate 8 month training program "International Relations and Diplomacy".

Eesti Diplomaatide Kool (EDK) asutati 1990. aastal eesmärgiga koolitada personali uueneva välisministeeriumi tarbeks. Kümnendi keskel õppekava laiendati ning õppima võisid asuda rahvusvaheliste suhete huvilised ka väljaspoolt ministeeriumi. Tänaseks on EDK-l üle 800 vilistlase, kellest paljud on siirdunud Eesti välisteenistusse, pidanud/peavad suursaadiku ametit ning olnud edukad muudeski kõrgetes riigiametites. Lisaks riigiametitele on EDK lõpetajad olnud edukad ka uurimisasutustes, erasektoris ja mittetulundusühingutes.

The Estonian School of Diplomacy (ESD) was established in 1990 with the aim to provide education that would ensure future competent personnel for the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Today the ESD has more than 700 graduates working in various fields of which most notable is the ministry of foreign affairs. Many graduates have been holding or are currently holding ambassadors post. In addition to Estonian foreign service, our graduates have been successful in other institutions both in public as well as private sector.

On 1–2 September, we had the pleasure of accommodating Mr. Javad Keypour´s two-day lecture sessions on "Energy and Climate Diplomacy" for Ukrainian diplomats and civil servants.
Delivered under the ESD project "Ukraine’s European Way"—in cooperation with the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, supported by ESTDEV (Estonian Centre for International Development)—the sessions examined among others the global trends and geopolitical influences actively shaping EU energy legislation, international climate initiatives and the global energy challenges that also influence Ukraine´s path forward.
Many thanks to Mr. Javad Keypour for his excellent lectures and expertise, to Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine and to ESTDEV - Estonian Centre for International Development for helping us to continue these important trainings and seminars.

Despite the escalation of Russian aggression in Ukraine, we are thankful that as part of our ongoing project "Ukraine’s European Way"—made possible by the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV), we managed to facilitate 4 days of lectures for diplomats and civil servants on International Humanitarian Law by Mr René Värk in the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine in Kiev.

We are especially thankful for Mr Värk for his preparedness to go to Kiev and conduct his lectures on the very essential and polarising topics of justice and rules of warfare that Ukraine unfortunately is facing at the moment and will be facing for foreseeable future.
Many thanks to the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine for receiving Mr Värk and also to ESTDEV for their support that helps us conduct these important activities.

On 4 -5 August, as part of our ongoing project, "Ukraine’s European Way"—made possible by the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV)—we had the pleasure to facilitate 2 days of informative and thought provoking online lectures by Ms Merle Maigre on the crucial topic of "Information Security" at the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, organized for diplomatic service employees and civil servants in the field of foreign relations and collaboration.

This week, we had the pleasure of hosting a study visit for a delegation of Ukrainian government officials and representatives of the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine in Tallinn, organised within the framework of the ongoing project “Ukraine’s European Way: Capacity Building of Ukrainian Officials and the Ukrainian Diplomatic Academy”, supported by the Estonian Centre for International Development.
Over the course of the week, participants explored Estonia’s experience in diplomacy, digital governance, and the European integration process. The programme included a visit to the
e-Estonia Briefing Centre and meetings with senior Estonian officials, including Ms. Erika Ellamaa Ots, the Director of the Department of Eastern Europe and Central Asia from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Marko Mihkelson, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Riigikogu, Ms. Ave Schank-Lukas, Head of the European Commission Representation in Estonia, as well as Ms. Ingrid Toonekurg and Ms. Mari Pedak from the e Governance Academy. The delegation also took part in a roundtable discussion with H.E. Volodymyr Boiechko, Ambassador of Ukraine to Estonia.
Participants engaged in thematic discussions on business diplomacy, defence industry cooperation, and energy, all viewed through the lens of Ukraine’s European integration. The visit concluded with an insightful lecture by Ambassador Taavi Toom on the role of public and digital diplomacy in the EU accession process.
This study visit strengthened professional ties, deepened understanding of Estonia’s EU accession experience and digital governance innovations, and contributed meaningfully to Ukraine’s ongoing European integration efforts.

On Friday, 15 May, we celebrated the achievements of the Class of 2025/2026. Twenty-three graduates representing nine countries—Estonia, Armenia, Austria, Georgia, Germany, Kenya, Moldova, the Netherlands, and Ukraine—were awarded their certificates in the elegant hall of the Estonian Academy of Sciences. The certificates were presented by Director Mr Ekke Nõmm and Mr Marko Mihkelson, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Riigikogu.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Estonian Centre for International Development for providing scholarships to seven representatives from development cooperation priority countries. We wish all of our graduates continued success in their future professional endeavours.
