Priit Reiska has become the Rector of Tallinn University! 👏🎓

A ceremonial inauguration of the Rector took place at Tallinn University, where we thanked the former Rector, Tõnu Viik, for his dedicated work, open leadership, and significant contribution to the university’s development.

Priit Reiska is now officially the new Rector of Tallinn University. We wish him strength, wisdom, and inspiring success in leading the university. May his term be filled with bold ideas, meaningful collaboration, and new opportunities for the university community as well as for Estonia’s wider education and research landscape.

The ceremony was also attended by the President of the Republic of Estonia, Alar Karis.

🎓 Tallinn University inaugurates its new Rector!

On 14 May, Tallinn University will inaugurate Professor Priit Reiska as the university’s new Rector. Among those delivering greetings at the inauguration ceremony are the President of the Republic of Estonia Alar Karis, Minister of Education and Research Kristina Kallas, and the current Rector Professor Tõnu Viik.

Professor Priit Reiska’s five-year term as Rector of Tallinn University begins on 15 May 2026. As Professor of Science Education, he has dedicated his work to advancing science and education and to making learning more understandable and effective through innovative teaching methods.

On 13 May 2026, former ERC President Jean-Pierre Bourguignon will visit Tallinn University! ⭐️

All researchers in Estonia who are interested in ERC grants and wish to gain new insights on the topic are welcome to attend.
The event will be held in English in TLÜ Senate (M648) at 10:00-12:00.

The SustainERA series continues with an engaging talk by Professor Max Koch (Lund University): “Challenges to Post-Growth and Sustainable Welfare, and the Role of the Super-Rich”.

The talk introduces post-growth as a response to the ecological, social, and political polycrisis facing Europe. It also explores key challenges in advancing post-growth research and discusses how eco-social policies can be designed to respect planetary boundaries — including the role and responsibility of the super-rich. 🔍

Coming up next week, on April 24–25, the 3rd International Baltic NeuroCine Conference will take place at Tallinn University. ⭐️

We welcome filmmakers and film scholars, artistic researchers, psychologists, neuroscientists and cognitive scientists, as well as anyone interested!

At the conference, we will discuss how people’s unconscious experiences and knowledge influence filmmaking and how these can be identified. We will also explore whether and how film-related knowledge can be applied in other fields, such as education and healthcare.

Come to SWISH! 👗

SWISH is a clothing swap event where students and staff of Tallinn University can bring clothes, shoes & accessories that could find a new user.

Only items in a condition that you yourself would like to receive are welcome at the swap, meaning the clothes must be clean and in good condition; underwear, undershirts, leggings, tights, socks, as well as worn-out, pilled, or damaged clothing will not be accepted. The aim of the event is to give items that have been sitting unused in your wardrobe a new life, bringing joy to both a new owner and the environment!

Clothing collection takes place:

📍27.04 and 28.04 from 10:00-15:00 in room A-018.

In exchange for donated items, participants will receive tokens to use on the day of SWISH.

SWISH takes place:

✨ 29.04 and 30.04 from 10:00-16:00 in the Astra Forum area.

✨ 29.04 10:00-16:00, there will also be a guided clothing repair café on site, where you can fix and customize your clothes.
